Chapter 16
A.
"What the hell do you think you're doing Chloe? Why are you even here?" I said as Madeline turned the corner leaving my chest tightening painfully. Her nervous laughter, her avoidance to Axel trying to tell her exactly what this wasn't. It meant something. And Chloe was ruining it.
"What I can't kiss the boyfriend I missed so much?" she smiled at me but the glare I sent her way had that fake and plastic smile falter.
"I am not your boyfriend anymore. You threw that in the garbage months ago! And I thought your family moved out of town?"
"We did but I missed it here, so I talked Daddy into letting me come stay with my grandmother to finish the year with my love." She lifted her hand to touch my face, but I slapped it away.
"Don't touch me. Because of you Madeline sa-"
"So, Madeline was her name. Cute little thing, but she's not your type. Don't you like a woman rather than a girl? Don't you like someone-"
"Like you?" I scoffed, "Hell no. You're made from lies and deceit. Do you think you can just waltz back in here like nothing ever happened? Like you didn't cheat on me with one of my best friends? You disgust me, and I want nothing to do with you. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to fix the mess you just made with Madeline who is a thousand times the woman you will ever be." I said before I turned and walked away.
"You'll want me back Hun, trust me." she called out to me.
"Not in a million years." I responded before turning the corner and heading back to the cafeteria. The bell rang before I got there and the rush of students leaving to get to class made it impossible for me to get back to the group. So instead I decided to find her in class.
But she wouldn't talk to me. The rest of the day whenever I tried to walk up to her she would start talking to someone else whether it was the teacher or another student. She didn't even look my way and each attempt that failed weighed a little heavier on my heart. By the end of the day I walked into my house feeling defeated as I kicked off my boots. The slam of the front door behind me made me jump and the sudden pounding in my head showed just how upset Anna was.
"What the frickin' hell were ya thinkin'?!" she yelled her southern accent thicker the angrier she got.
"I-I didn't do it! I swear!" I yelled in defense.
"Oh really? Ya think kissin' is a one-person job huh?! I thought you was over Chloe after what happened with Stewart!"
"I am!"
"Well ya coulda fooled me with the way you was macking together!" okay, yeah it was an accident and I shouldn't have let her get that close to me but I never kissed her back.
"Alright, enough!" I yelled making Anna pause, "I did not kiss Chloe. She surprise attacked me. You guys came in the second it started and ended. I feel nothing for Chloe, but disgust and she can rot in hell for all I care. She wants me back, but I don't want her! I want-"
"You's wantin' Miss Maddie." Anna said.
"Yeah, yeah I want Maddie. But she wouldn't let me even talk to her, she ignored me like the plague."
"I wonder why." Anna snipped back but I let it slide.
"Well mister, you gotta fix it yerself, I ain't helpin'." she said as she patted my shoulder and started walking up the stairs.
"Thanks, little sister, what would I ever do without you?" I replied sarcastically.
"Probably wither away in loneliness and boredom!" she called as her figure disappeared up the stairs.
