Epilogue
M.
That night had been a night nobody would ever forget. It was also the night that everyone's lives were changed forever. The reality of nearly dying made Mom realize what she truly wanted and needed in life. So, she found it. My real father.
Apparently, he had been in the military, a sergeant in the Marine Corps and had gone to boot camp the day after my mom had broken up with him. He'd never married anyone and didn't have any kids.
She'd found him on a social media site and the day after there had been a knock on the door. He showed up with bags of luggage. It was birthday presents for the both of us for the past seventeen years. The love in his eyes, the open arms he offered, made both of us cry and within two months they were married. It was beautiful and almost everyone there cried when they said their personal vows to each other.
The six of us graduated a couple months after that night and that summer Anna and Daniel got married and headed off to a university where Daniel got a degree in agriculture and Anna, veterinary assistance. They moved back a couple years later to start their own farm and apparently their own family. When the baby came Anna named her Madeline making me cry.
As I assumed Riley and Axel got together. They tried to hide it, but I confronted them and they admitted to it. It took a while to tell their families, and they were more than welcoming with it. They've been together ever since and have stayed in town in their own apartment.
Asher and I have been together since as well. I got my college degree at the local college for Criminal Justice and entered the Sheriff's department shortly after. Asher joined the Marine Corps once he talked with my real father about it. He returned safely to me each time and has happily become an officer.
We were married about a year after that night and have since purchased our own land and are now starting a family of our own. Currently carrying child number two I can honestly say things have become what they were meant to be.
Now, as I looked over to the love of my life while he laughed with all our friends at our almost weekly family BBQ, I knew we all got our happy ending. That's what almost anyone deserved after all.
Just a happy ending.
