Chapter 15

"Little bastard." I growled as I watched Asher walk down the hall with a satisfied smirk on his face. He had simply walked past me, grabbed my hair tie, and pulled it out as he walked away. That makes ten in total now. It'd been two weeks since the sleep over, and I had somehow become a part of the group, eating lunch with them every day, laughing, joking, and having a good time.
I started working at the book store after work a few nights a week, saving the little bit of money I was making.
Things at home were quiet, which didn't bode well with me, it felt like the calm before the storm. Like something was going to explode any moment. It made my nerves stand on edge.
"You know,"
"Mother of Jesus!" I jumped and turned finding Anna right behind me. "You fricking gremlin, don't sneak up on me!" She just smiled as she continued eating the mini cookies from her snack bag.
"Starting with the pet names already darlin'?" she said in a mock Asher tone. I frowned at her. She simply laughed and continued with what she had been saying.
"You should just keep your hair down, seems he likes it that way. And you're just wasting your money to buy more hair ties."
"I don't care what he likes." I grumbled as I rooted through my locker for the books I needed.
"Oh, come on Honey Bunch, tell me how you really feel. Hell, the boy was using your lady fluffs for a pillow two days ago and I didn't see a struggle to get away." I turned to look at her in surprise.
"Do you not remember the bite? I still have a mark on the side of my boob!" she paused.
"Oh yeah." She said like she just remembered that. Though that wasn't the true reason why I couldn't have cared less, but she didn't need to know that. I had concluded that I did in fact like Asher, but that didn't make him any more or less infuriating or annoying when he stole my hair ties every chance he got. Sighing I tied my hair back up with my spare hair ties and shut my locker. I started walking down the hall but didn't hear footsteps beside me. Pausing I turned to find Anna still standing where she had been by my locker.
"Hey Southern Belle, are you coming or what?" she looked at me for a moment with a blank expression when suddenly it changed into a giant smile and she hopped her way to me like a bunny. When she landed beside me she looked up and smiled a toothy grin.
"Southern Belle huh? I quite like that nickname."

"Sooo, when you gunna ask her out?" Daniel asked as we sat at lunch waiting for the girls to get out of line.
"What're you talking about?" I asked, looking back to find Riley, Axel, and Daniel all looking at me.
"What?" I asked as Axel gave me a 'really dude' look while Daniel just shook his head. Riley jumped a bit and said "Come on, we know you like her. Heck I like her, Axel and Daniel like her, and Anna loves the girl. Look at you Asher, you're watching her every move and playing with the hair ties you stole from her. Creepy much but I'm not gunna judge." I looked down confused and noticed I was in fact playing with the hair ties, I had them on my wrist, like a wrist band.
I grunted and looked back up at them as they looked at me expectantly. I wasn't ready to admit my feelings to anyone even myself honestly. After what happened with Chloe...how she'd betrayed me, I couldn't trust myself right now. Especially after only knowing this girl for a few weeks.
"Well, since you seem so quick to deny it, then I hope it doesn't bother you that I like her." My head snapped up at Axel's words, my eyes widening in shock. It seems Riley and Daniel were just as surprised. Axel had never admitted to liking a girl. Never had much interest in them, never introduced us to one.
