Bored. That's the only emotion I felt as I sat in Mr. Clarks class, tuning his gruff voice out as he continued talking about an upcoming assignment we were going to have. I drummed my fingers against the smooth surface of the desk, watching with anticipation as the big hand slowly dragged by on the clock. -Besides Ms. Collins' classroom- this is the class that seems to go by extremely slowly. Mr. Clark has a loud voice, but his southern drawl manages to only make me sleepier than before.
Suddenly, a female voice broke through the intercom, silencing Mr. Clark and the classroom instantly. "Will the following Seniors please come down to the office at one," the woman cleared her throat as she began to read off the names of different Seniors. "Jenna Davis, Shawn Blakely, Sierra Green, Anna Gutierrez, Lydia Parker, Zac Farro, Christian Knight, Anthony Russell, Robert Martin and Peter Walker. Please, send these students down to the office at once. Thank you." She said before hanging up the intercom.
As soon as the woman said my name, everyone's eyes darted towards me. But I ignored their curious stares as I shoved my notebook inside my backpack before heading towards the exit of the classroom. I knew that sooner or later, the office was going to call me down, but why are they calling all the other kids down? I know that some of the other kids are nothing but trouble makers, but why are we all getting called down to the office at the same time? Is there going to be like a group suspension or something? Fuck, what if the school threatens to kick me out again?
"Lydia! Hold on," a voice shouted from behind me. I turned around, surprised to see Peter Walker hurrying towards me. Peter was only a few inches taller than me, and I've known him since Freshman year, but I hardly talk to him anymore. He's in Ms. Collins class with me, but he's never actually in class.
"Hey, do you know why the hell they're sending us all to the office?" He asked once he was only a few feet away from me. I shook my head 'no'. Peter sighed, running his fingers through his black hair. "Well, then I guess we'll just have to wait and see." I nodded and the two of us began walking towards the main office that was located on the first floor below us.
Throughout the three minute walk, Peter kept asking me a bunch of different questions- mainly about how I've been and things like that. "Dude, I noticed you like The Runaways." He noted, pointing to my long 'The Runaways' t-shirt. I had gotten this shirt as a birthday present from Jannah two years ago. It's still one of my favorite shirts before I love The Runaways. Joan Jett helped me shape the way I am today.
I nodded, grinning widely at the memory of my birthday when Jannah gave me this shirt. I was beyond high that day so of course, I overreacted. But still, high or not, I know that Jannah realizes how much The Runaways actually mean to me. "I love The Runaways. Do you like them?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at the boy.
Peter nodded, smiling slightly. "Yeah. My dad played a lot of the classics and I basically grew up listening to them. They're amazing. Joan Jett is also amazing on her own." He said. I nodded, agreeing with his words. A few more seconds passed by before we finally reached the main office. Peter pulled the door open, and like a gentleman, held it open for me. I found myself smiling at this. I can't deny it, Peter definitely has grown out of his boyish looks and into more of a manlier appearance. Like I said before, he's tall and has dark hair. His chocolate brown eyes lit up whenever he talks and he has two deep dimples on either side of his cheeks.
We both stepped into the slightly crowded office, eight other kids standing awkwardly around the small office. The principal's door swung open, Principal James stepping out of his office, smiling widely. "Alright, now that you're all here, I want you all to step into my office. I have an announcement to make." He said. Following one another, we all poured into his office, Jenna Davis and Shawn Blakely immediately claiming the only two chairs in the room. I leaned against the wall near Principal James's desk, Peter standing closely beside me.
