[Chapter Fifteen] Gorilla

Song: Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars

***********************************************

"You're not going to ask?" Peter wondered in a soft voice. His bare chest, which I was comfortably laying on, was slowly rising up and down in soft breaths, his fingers lightly tracing circles on my arm. The two of us were lying comfortably on my bed, the white blanket covers pulled over our sweaty and naked bodies. As soon as Jannah, Riot, Jayden and Hayley left a few hours ago, Peter got his reward and we went about four rounds before I decided that two and a half hours of sex was just enough for one evening.

My chin pressed against his chest, arms folded underneath my head as I stared at Peter with a questioning look. "Ask you about what?"

Peter removed his hands from my waist and arm, folding his arms underneath his head as he met his eyes with mine. "About who the song I sang for you was about. I played that song for several different people and they've all bothered me with that question me about that. Now, I'm wondering why you haven't asked yet." He clarified, his eyes moving away from mine and turning to the ceiling above us. A concentrated look overcoming his content and hard features.

"Oh," I breathed out, shifting above Peter's body so I was now too facing the ceiling, my bare back pressing against his chest. "Well, I wasn't going to. I mean, I was wondering who the song was written about, if anyone, but I know how deep the meaning for a song can be, and how personal. understand that some people would rather leave it to the listen to decipher what the song is about, others just don't want to share that type of information. I do want to know who it was written for or about, but I won't meddle in that type of information. And I don't expect you to tell me unless you feel comfortable to."

Peter chuckled underneath me, his chest falling in rising while doing so. "Well," Peter began, the smile clear in his voice as he wrapped his arms around my waist. "I feel comfortable around you no matter what, really. So, I guess I can share the story behind the song, if you want. We're technically not together, but I honestly have no clue how you'll feel about it." He admitted. Once again, I shifted over Peter's body. Except this time, I rolled off his chest and curled to his side, my arm lying over his chest as I used his arm as a pillow for my head.

"Please, some of my songs are about heartbreak and shitty relationships. Even if the song was about fucking each other like gorillas, I don't think I'll be bothered. I'm just curious, that's all."

Peter nodded, a quiet sigh escaping his lips before he began to speak. "During the summer of last year, I was dating this girl- Carmen. She was this sexy Latina girl from Hawaii, where I'm originally from. We shared a lot of common interests and I became a sucker for her. She was beautiful. One day, we were hanging out together at this just outside of Honolulu. I moved there for a little while because I thought it would help better myself, but that obviously didn't help. Apparently, I'm an asshole wherever I go. Anyways, we were talking together, laughing and having fun, you know? All of the sudden, she asks me, "Peter, what would you do if one day, I just got up and left you?" I nodded in understanding, Peter taking my silence as a cue to continue with his story.

"I told her, "You'll have to leave a box of morphine at my door because I don't know what I'd do without you." It was kind of weird, Carmen randomly asking me that question. I also told her that if she left me, my eyes would be just like the clouds above us- always raining. I know, it's kind of cheesy, but it's what I honestly felt. Carmen was a girl from the suburbs. Her dad was a lawyer and her mom was a cop. She was smart and had a lot going for her while I was nothing more than a 'hooligan'. Obviously, people disapproved strongly of our relationship, but I didn't care. I loved Carmen with all my heart and I just wanted to be with her." He paused, a sad chuckle leaving his mouth. He was hurting, it was obvious, but he continued speaking. He continued telling his story, despite the look of pain and sadness in his eyes.
