The song to go with chapter 6 is 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' by The Arctic Monkeys, one of my favourite bands.

The picture on the side is Casey.

As the week passed by, I began to dread the party on Friday night. It was the subject everyone had been talking about at school; how amazing Pete's house was, who was going to be there, who people wanted to hook up with.

There was no break from all the gossip, all my friends could talk about was Noah asking me personally to go.

By Friday lunchtime I was telling them to shut up, they wouldn't stop talking about it and I was beginning to get pissed off. When they all came over to my house afterschool I had to ban all party talk; they were making me more nervous than I should be.

It was just another party, I'd only been to one the week before; there was one every other week. Still this time I was going with Noah, he was picking me up in less than an hour.

Rae and Robin had picked out what they thought would be the perfect outfit, I took one look at it and walked out the room without saying a word. There was no way I was putting on some skimpy outfit for Noah, if he was going to fall in love with me he'd fall for me, not my body or the clothes I wore.

I showered, letting the hot water relax some of the tension in my muscles and walked back into my room feeling better. Only Casey was left, sitting on my desk chair playing a game on her phone; she looked up smiling when I walked in.

"You feel better now?" She put her phone in her pocket and focussed on me.

"Yeah thanks. It's just all the party talk and the stuff with Noah, it just got too much, you know. Anyway how's Sam?" Changing the subject I looked at the clothes laid out on my bed, Rae and Robin had swapped them for something less provocative and a bit more me.

"He's amazing. I don't know how I've never noticed him before, we actually have two classes together. He's really smart and nice, I mean he's a total gentleman. He holds the door open for me and walks me everywhere."

Sitting on my bed, I watched her eyes glaze over into a dreamy trance as she spoke about the guy she'd only met a week ago.

It wasn't like Casey to fall so easily, especially for someone she hardly knew. Which was another reason I was dreading tonight: I'd devised an ulterior motive. It was my objective to find out more about Sam from Noah, who would know the guy better than his best friend.

"He says Noah's a really great guy by the way, nothing like his reputation."

"Hmm! We'll see won't we. Are you going together tonight? Maybe I'll actually get to meet him properly."

"Yeah. I better get home and get changed. You'll love him honestly, he's so sweet."

She stood up and put her jacket on, sighing and smiled at me; I hope Sam really was all she thought he was. If he broke Casey's heart, I'd break him. She hugged me saying goodbye as she left, drifting out of the room in a semi-conscious daze.

I thought she was going to bump into something, she was that unaware of her surroundings. I'd never seen her like this before.

Better get ready then, I slipped into the dark blue jeans, navy and white horizontally striped t-shirt and grey waistcoat. Finding a pair of brown suede pixie boots, I slipped them on and headed back to the bathroom.
