CHAPTER 14: Fact #2
Annelise:
"Andrei!"
He fell on the ground after seeing me. He was holding a bottle of scotch and he looked very wasted. He was still wearing the same outfit I saw on him when we all went to see the King and the Queen a day ago. His tie was still hanging on his neck, his long sleeve polo was unbuttoned and his feet... his feet? I supposed he walked around the palace barefooted!
"I am...Prince..... Andreas... An-dreas Henriksen! I... am... Andrei.. Andrei Henry! I'm so sorry.. sorry.. I am really sorry.."
You know how can a drunk person irritates others? He was crying and saying those sentences over and over again. I couldn't get mad at him because seeing my very best friend on that situation breaks my heart and I just wanted to be by his side until he stops repeating the sentences, until he stops crying even though he stinks.
"I know.. I know okay? Stop it. You're drunk.."
"I a-am.... n-not.. drunk! I just had a.. little of...of... this!"
He showed me the bottle and threw it aside. I tore my morning dress and soak it in the lake then run back to him. I pulled him to my lap and slowly brushed the wet cloth to his arms and his face so he can at least get back to his senses. He was crying like a child and that was the first time I saw him like that.
"Princess!"
Laura came rushing as she saw us in the side of the lake. She was gasping for some air and looking worried.
"Laura, help me carry Andrei... A-Andreas... back to his room."
"Your dress! What happened Princess?Awwwww... Prince Andreas smells like a rotten fruit.."
"Shhh... just help me carry him."
"B-but... Princess, it's time for you to prepare yourself for later's press conference. You might get late."
"Just help me first. I beg you.."
"O-okay.."
She looked confused but she followed what I asked her. We carried Andrei back to his room... his left arm on my shoulder and his right arm on Laura's shoulder. He was heavy of course, for girls like us thank goodness Anton saw us as soon as we reached the palace's hallway. He didn't ask us anything, he just hurriedly helped us carried Andrei. I guess he knows everything that was happening.. he's My best friend's assistant after all.
Andrei was still sobbing, uttering some words we couldn't understand when we put him on his bed. I asked Anton to call for a maid and bring cold water and I also asked him to bring me some of Andrei's clean clothes. As soon as the maid came in, I went out of the room and waited for Anton to finish changing Andrei's clothes.
"P-Princess! why are you still here? I mean, youre meeting the press later right?"
He saw me walking back and forth, feeling confused and a little bit upset about what was going on with my best friend.
"Is he alright now?" I asked.
"Yes Princess, he's fine. He just needed some rest to sober."
I entered his room again because I really wanted to check if he was really fine. It doesn't mean I didnt believe what Anton told me, all I ever wanted to do that time was to be with him while he was unconscious.
I saw him on his bed, peacefully sleeping.. his left arm was on his side and his right arm was on his forehead. That was the time I got the chance to scan the rest of his room.. the view from his window, his medals and bunches of certifications hanging on the wall, the plaques and the framed pictures on his table. A familiar picture caught my attention, I looked at it closely and confirmed it to myself that it was a graduation shot of him with me in front of our University in America way back in college when he finished Medical Technology with honors.
