"Scorp! Come on, this isn't funny!" He had gone awol on me, during our sponsor day at Hogwarts- I was his voice and he was my eyes. We had both been bound magically, so that if either of us failed, all the money would be paid out of our pockets. But now he'd abandoned me, which really wasn't funny- I had no idea what floor I was on, let alone know what lesson I had next.
Suddenly, a hand on my shoulder. "Scorp, there you are- stop running off!" Wordlessly, they turned me round, and suddenly I inhaled mints, feathers and all the other things McGonagall smelt off. "Sorry miss"
"How did you know who I was with no sight? Actually, no, I don't want to know." I smiled awkwardly, but inside I wished I could hug her, I was so glad to find someone I knew other than a random sixth year who laughed at me, then ran away. But I knew she wouldn't appreciate that, so instead I sighed and said,
"You haven't seen Scorpius anywhere? He's meant to be my eyes, and I'm meant to be his mouth, but I guess he's decided that wordless magic is the way forward today."
"I suppose he has. Typical." She tutted, and said "No, I haven't seen him. But I'll let you know as soon as I do." With that, a rustle, and I heard her walk away, her heeled boots tapping along the stone floor.
"Professor!" She stopped, and I presumed she had turned around. "I know I should know my way round Hogwarts with my eyes closed by now, but where am I? I mean, I'm meant to be with Professor Slughorn in ten minutes."
"Lessons have already started Potter" I inwardly stated to panic, and looked up at her, my eyebrows slanted pleadingly underneath my blindfold. I'll take you to your lesson. You're three floors away- how did you even get here? Your last lesson with me was only a floor down."
"I think I miscounted the stairs. It's ok Miss, you can't leave your class alone for too long. I'll be fine." Promptly, I turned on my heel and I walked into a stone pillar, whacking my forehead on a gargoyle on my way. I was slightly dizzy for a second, and felt McGonagall's eyes burn the back of my head. I turned around sheepishly.
"A guide would be much appreciated", I said, my cheeks turning red. She chuckled, and lead the way, warning me of stairs and missing steps. When I got to the class at last, there was a big cheer, and everyone started clapping, even Slughorn by the sounds of it.
"A late arrival, Horace. Keep a tight hold of this one, he's got no idea where he's going today. Or ever" I heard her mutter, her heels tapping as she smartly walked out.
I smiled, and felt my way to my desk, knocking over something made of glass, which smashed on the floor. I apologised, perhaps to the phial, then continued to grope my way to the desk, where eventually I found my chair empty, something silent but shaking with fits of laughter. I prodded him crossly.
"Scorpius you little shit, you were meant to look after me today. You knew I'd be hopeless." He kept shaking with badly held in giggles. I scowled, then listened intently for the rest of the lesson.
Slughorn assigned us to do a potion in groups, realising there was no point for us to do several incomplete and potentially dangerous potions. Scorp handed me the correct ingredients, doing anything that involved a sharp tool himself, knowing how clumsy I was. I motioned for Rose (she smelt of honey, those pink flowers you get in trees and cucumber) to read out the recipe, (she was deaf for the day- thank Merlin, however this did mean us three had a bit of trouble communicating), so I could put the correct items in, and muttered incantations, while Scorp prepared the ingredients - cutting, mashing or peeling.
We presented something, that was cold to the touch, the outside wet as if there was frost on it. Or we had spilt some down the sides. That wouldn't surprise me. Slughorn gave a surprised murmur, hopefully a good one. Scorp was putting his bag away, I heard him, so I walked back to our table, smelling him as apposed to someone else. He smelt of brooms, cereal bars (unlike his father, he loved muggle snacks, and would have them sent in with his owl daily) and something lemony.
