But Rose had to leave, with the promise of getting more Floo powder and telling her parents about us, so we just had to stay put until then. I remembered something terrible. She wouldn't be back for more than a week. If she didn't get back within the hour, her parents would have taken her off to Spain on their family holiday. Half an hour there, half an hour back. She lived four hours away. There was no hope.

I levitated Scorp up the stairs to his unmade bed after he fell asleep in my arms, and stayed in his bed until dinner. When the heavy clock boomed the hour throughout the house, and I closed my eyes in horror. Rose would be in Spain now, unable to help anymore. Scorp laid unconscious in bed, so when my stomach rumbled, I thought it would be safe to go an get myself something to eat, realising I hadn't eaten since yesterday. But I was too on edge to properly commit to eating anything, I could just scavenge the remains of Scorp's chicken, then go back to sleep in Scorp's parent's bed, with him.

He still wasn't awake in the morning, even when I shook him. He was out cold. Panicking, I jumped out of bed, and grabbed his wand from the bedside table.

"Renervate!"

He didn't move.

"RENERVATE!"

Not even a flicker.

He remained in a deep slumber. What if he'd died? In his parents bed, where his mum had died three years previously? I checked- he was till breathing. But when I put the thermometer in his mouth, left it for a couple of seconds in and took it out, I was shocked by his highest score yet. 107 degrees fahrenheit. He should be dead. Using his wand again, I summoned mine, and tried for a third time to wake him  up, with no luck. I gave up and let him sleep, and went back down to the library to look up his mystery condition, with no such luck, although I tried desperately, for many hours, skipping breakfast and lunch again. Soon he had been out cold for 24 hours straight, with me checking him every half an hour, looking for even a slight change. His temperature didn't go down, so I had to resort to Muggle techniques, and inject a fever potion right into his veins, forcing myself to look, to check I wasn't stabbing him in a vital artery or something. After that it didn't rise again(which  didn't think was even physically possible) although he didn't come down from 107 degrees fahrenheit.

I realised at six pm that he'd done the inevitable, and had to change the sheets, blushing profusely on his behalf, even though he couldn't have known. I had to give him new boxers and pyjamas, and stuck his dirty ones in the wash. Then I carefully laid him on the floor, and dried and changed the bedding. During this I kept him wrapped up like a sausage roll in his quilt, in case he woke up or grew cold. When I was done, and everything was satifyingly fresh and new, I bodily picked him up, and put him back on the bed. Then I laid next to him, fully dressed, at a loss, my hand clasping his. What on earth was I going to do? He needed someone from Snt Mungo's desperately, not an underage wizzard with no medical qualifications! Why couldn't Rose have contacted someone there, on her way home? Who did I have left? Mine, Roses and Scorp's families were all out the country, and Patronus laws wouldn't allow us to send one over seas, because I Muggle would clearly see it. Besides, I couldn't even make one properly yet. I had no clue where anyone else lived, none of the teachers, none of he other people in my school, which I besides, did not trust. Any of mum's friends.... Aunty Luna? No, she was barmy. And Miss Chang was again, out of the country. What about dad? And his friends.....Moony and Padfoot! They were in Grimwald place, on their summer breaks from the Ministry! In England! I started quivering with excitement, a chance. Scorp would die, if he stayed in this state, I knew that. So I took my wand, and desperately thought happy thoughts again, of the time when the photo was taken.
