First things first. I bet you're all wondering who that adorable little ball of sunshine on the cover is. Well, the title of this book says it all-- it's my baby kitten!

Noelle walked up to me early last week when I was carrying in groceries. I live across the street from a park, and I suspect that she was dumped over there by some idiot. Anyway, when I saw Noelle, I gasped and awed at the adorable cuteness that she contains.

She didn't have a name tag or anything like that on her. All she had was a tattered, pink rhinestone collar. I called for my dad to come outside and get the groceries I was holding, and when he did he saw the kitty. I picked up Noelle and held her. Immediately, she started purring and being the cutest little thing.

After a span of like 2 minutes, my parents talked it over and decided that my dad and I would take the kitten up to Feeder's Supply to see if they would take it. Noelle didn't squirm or anything when I held her, and when we got to the Feeder's Supply parking lot, I noticed something extraordinary about her.

She had two different colored eyes! One is hazel-ish yellow and the other is blue. It makes me wonder which color she would have if both eyes were the same. Anyway, when I found this out I was trying to get a picture but failed.

To make a long story short, the Feeder's people said they didn't accept strays/dumps anymore. They gave us a number to the pound. They for some reason couldn't take her. My mom offered her to her friend Tara at work, and she couldn't take her. Everywhere we called, Noelle was turned down.

To me, this was a sign. Every day after school for 3 days, I went outside to see Noelle until my dad would tell me it was too cold and to come in. I was falling in love with the cat. Not only am I a sucker for cats, but I could just feel something between her and I. I started showing pictures of her to my friends, and they thought she was the most adorable thing. I wanted those to be my compliments. I wanted to say thank you, not "I know."

So what did I do? Beg my mom to let me keep her. Well, I didn't actually beg. I offered every option I could think of, including giving all my Christmas money to my mom. I also offered her not getting me anything for my birthday and for grades. It wasn't that my mom didn't want me to keep the kitten or didn't trust me with the responsibility, but she was afraid that my other girl cat, Razzie (Razzmatazz, which is a shade of pink), would fight with her.

We took her to the vet after school last Thursday to see if she had a chip in her. Our priority was giving this kitten back to the kid who could potentially be missing it. But Noelle didn't have a chip. They started discussing prices if we did decide to take the cat, which was really nerve wracking to me. I wasn't sure if my mom was going to say, "well, I guess we'll have to just take her to the pound" or "okay, ring me up." Either could happen in an instant, but luckily for me she said the second thing.

When my mom said I could keep her, I felt so excited and happy. It was like a match made in heaven. :)

As my mom was talking to the vet ladies about prices for vaccines and other things, I was googling different things to try to come up with kitten names. Take it from me, not a good idea. At all. All I found for the most part were stupid, Mary Sue names that would be so TYPICAL if I named my cat that. So if you want a good, quality name, take it from me that you'll be better off if you came up with it on your own.

So why did I name my cat Noelle? Well, originally I wanted it to be a winter-y name since she found me during winter. But I also wanted something that was kind of girly. AND I wanted something to do with One Direction if possible, because One Direction is just fab (if you read book one you'd know I think that, I mean come on the cover is of them). So finally, after long thought, I remembered the One Direction Teenage Dirtbag cover where it says, "Her name is Noelle..."

It seemed then that I'd found my solution. :)

The only thing I don't like about my kitty's name is that when they ask, I say her name and they assume it's "Noel". And there's nothing wrong with that, but in the summertime I don't want to be thinking of "The First Noel" Christmas song.

It's Noelle, like the real name Noelle.

Anyway, after my mom said yes and we left the vet, we was on our way home. We stopped at Pizza Hut to get some food. (As a side note, I don't like Pizza Hut but I just like their pasta.) When we got home and ate, I showed my new kitten her territory. That night, she started her whole "wake Danielle up at 2 in the morning by loving her and walking on her face" thing, which she still does to this day.

Her big problem now is having "accidents" with the litter box. Collectively, I've cleaned up about 4 piles of poop. Also, she is getting a combo surgery on the first Tuesday in February. She's getting spayed and declawed (don't even comment telling me how bad it is to declaw cats, I KNOW THIS. All our cats are declawed though so). I'm kind of worried for her, but I'm sure she'll have a safe and healthy recovery.

I guess that about covers it. I named this Kitten Diaries because I'm going to add them progressively in this book. Meaning, if I have something cool to tell you about Noelle, I'll make it a Kitten Diary entry. I'm going to make series of topics in this book similar to this. Not all entries will be in a topic, but I'll at least have a few repeating topics in this book. ☻ More info about topics coming soon!

If you're as excited about this book as I am, you go, Glen Coco!
