LUCY'S P.O.V.

I was in a dark, dark place inside my head as memories swirled through the fog to reach my comprehension. I remembered headaches. I remembered that they were so powerful that I wished to God that someone would cut off my head with an axe just to make it stop. That's why I made the decision to go through with the hibernation process. They said they would put me in stasis and keep me like that until they come up with a cure for an inoperable brain tumour. In truth, I did it for my family. This way they had a chance of knowing that I might live again someday and it was easier for them to say goodbye to me with still getting to keep some hope. To be honest I neve really thought that they would find a way to cure me. I was going to die in that diamond casket but I didn't care just as long as they made the pain go away.

It was the smell that woke me up. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. The scent was overwhelming. It was awakening every single muscle in my body calling it to action. I opened my eyes wanting more than anything to find the source of that possessive scent. It was only then that I realised that opening my eyes was a mistake for the creature staring back at me surely couldn't have been human.

So I did what any other girl would do in my place. I sat straight up and screamed. Loudly!"

And then as if I wasn't scared enough the creature screamed back at me! His huge fangs protruding through the big mouth and a threatening growl left his mouth only to find it's way to my sensitive ears. The creature was huge, standing over two meters tall above me. He looked like a humanoid but I've never seen anything like him. Was I being abducted by aliens? He had a giant body with big thick legs and long massive bulky arms. His chest was muscular and dark-skinned. His body was covered with short dark hair except for his legs where he wore some kind of silver- looking armor-like pants. He appeared to be made solely of muscles and bones alone. His face was a mixture between a human-like appearance and a bestial from. For all,I knew it was a monster who was about to have me for breakfast.

I covered my head with my hands trying to shield myself from this angry creature when another sound was heard. There was a grunting noise and a word "Monnagan" being uttered. The creature backed off immediately and I lifted my head to see my rescuer only to realise that there were other creatures like the monster that growled at me standing in this strange looking giant room.
Now, I was sure the aliens got to me! I just didn't know how the hell that happened? There were two of the creatures that looked older than the biggest one that threatened me and another one who looked he was the youngest of the group.

The oldest one supported by the youngest for it seemed like he had some trouble moving around, approached me with his hands held high as if he was trying to gesture that he was unarmed. He said something that sounded like "Vokanu" on a language I didn't understand.
I was trying hard to hold myself together and not to start screaming again. That huge threatening creature that growled at me was still staring at me like he was going to attack any second now.

"Salve amica! Quid est teum nomen?"

He was speaking to me!?! He was actually speaking to me and if I remember my school lessons correct, he was saying: "Hi, friend, what's your name?" in Latin.

"Lucy Collins" I replied back to the alien surprised that I was actually able to speak.

The creature smiled kindly and I was pleased to see that he was capable of making such a friendly gesture.

"Suāve tē cognōscere est!"

If I was right the alien just told me he was happy to meet me.

"Meum nomen est Vokanu. Quotos annes habes?"

From what I could gather this creature's name was Vokanu and he wanted to know how old I was. The only problem was that I was better at understanding Latin than I was at speaking it.

"I'm twenty-four" I replied in English. My head was aching and it was hard to remember anything let alone a language that has been dead for centuries.

"She speaks their Primal!" said the second oldest alien excitedly in what appeared to be fluent yet strangely accented English.

"Indeed" replied Vokanu looking quite pleased "Yet it appears to be a very archaic form."

I was listening to their conversation and it didn't help me feel any less like their lab rat.

"Excuse me? Where am I?" I asked these alien giants as politely as I could.

"You are in our research facility" replied the second oldest alien. "I am Ouroka the Observer and these are my sons Kindeleye and Monnagan whom you've already had the pleasure of meeting."

I glanced at the huge creature that was still glaring at me with those piercing dark eyes that made me feel like I better start running.

"How wonderful to meet you all" I said trying to keep my cool. I was a British citizen with a Scottish heritage and if there was one thing we were famous for then it was the ability to keep our cool under the most difficult of circumstances. I would hate to think that the entire world went to hell and that I didn't live up to my people's reputation.

"The liquid from the hibernation capsule who's job was to keep my body from deteriorating was quite cool. The entire room was freezing and it only hit me that I was, in fact, naked before those strange looking creatures. It did not escape my gaze that that Kindeleye fellow was sizing up my breasts. He had plenty to size up yet it was hardly the time to brag about my plump mounds, was it? I covered my breasts with my arms and asked: "Please If you don't mind I would truly appreciate it if you could spare a blanket or a sheet perhaps?"

All of the men exchanged quizzing looks and then Ouroka said: "We do not know this "blanket" word."

"Nor sheet" added his son Kindeleye.

"I am cold and naked, of course " I said bluntly as I could. "I need some clothes."

"Oh!" Vokanu said and then turned to Ouroka saying something that sounded quite like "Gladtuhg"

"But where should we get some that would fit?" said Kindeleye switching back to English.

"There is some at the Museum. Take some female garments. You are female, right?" Ouroka asked me staring at my exposed body as if trying to determine my sex.
Thankfully there was still enough liquid in the hibernation capsule that was hiding my lady parts from view.

"Well, of course, I'm female!" I said stating the obvious.

Kindelye left to get me some clothes from the Museum and hearing that truly disturbed me. How long have I been in stasis? Where are the other humans?

"If you don't mind me asking are we still on Earth?" I asked Vokanu and Ouroka trying hard to ignore Monnagan's evil staring.

"Yes, we are, only in our language we call it Sowa."

"Could you please tell me...I don't mean to be rude but I've...I mean...what...who...are you? Are there other humans like me here?"

The two older aliens looked at each other and both of them sighed at the same time. And that slow sad sigh of theirs made me feel very lonely.

Finally, Vokanu spoke and he said the words that made me fall apart: "We are Sowans and you are the only human alive on the planet. You are the last of your kind."

My head started to pain me worse than ever. I grabbed my forehead and moaned. I somehow leant forward and I could feel my body leave the hibernation capsule that was laying on the high, long, oval table. As I was blacking out a pair of two massive rugged hands grabbed me and then the darkness took me and the world was gone once more.
