OUROKA P.O.V.

"Is she asleep?" I asked my oldest son who was holding his tortured human mate in his arms.

Monaggan looked down at the young leaf gently sleeping his long fingers through her golden hair.

"Yes," he replied. "She's sleeping."

"How is that even possible father?" Kindelaye was eager to know.

"It would appear that human females are particularly susceptible to our scent gland pheromones."

"You mean she actually chose Monaggan?"

"Yes," Monaggan replied briskly. "She told me your scents greatly differ from mine."

"Monaggan even tested it while she was in his arms. The level of dominance he was able to exhibit was unlike anything I've ever seen with Sowa leafs and I don't have to remind the two of you that I have had five mates."

"What was it like?" Kindleye wanted to know. It was just like him to get horny in a situation like this."

"Stirring" Monaggan replied shortly.

"Oh, common brother you can do better than that. Tell us!" Kindleye insisted.

Monagan shot his brother a provocative glance and then said: "Fine if you must know, it was overwhelming."

"Wow!" Kindleye replied amazed and though I didn't want to point it out in front of Monaggan, I was deeply impressed too.

"I remember my first arousal. I was nowhere near as potent as yours Monaggan, with respect to your mother, of course. I remember yours too Kindleye. You reeked of it for days but it was nothing like what I smelled in the jungle tonight."

"She's just so tiny," Monaggan said looking down on the sleeping leaf. "What if I hurt her?"

I could easily understand my son's concerns. Judging from the human male skeletons we have found it would appear that they were, in fact, a very fragile race. Their body's musculature was simply weak compared to our own. They didn't have very strong jaws or claws. Their skin was soft and smooth with barely any functional body hair. Their females were usually smaller than their males like in our own race, nonetheless, they looked very delicate just as Lucy had proven to be today. That only created a bigger problem for Monaggan because the strongest instinct for the males of our kind is to protect their mate from harm. Delicate females were the icons of desirability in our society and they don't get any softer than Lucy.

"So when do you plan on telling her?" Kindleye asked his big brother sounding rather amused by this peculiar development of the situation.

Monaggan looked at me in a pleading way. I haven't seen that look on his face for years. To be completely honest I didn't think he'll ever look at me that way again. Long gone were the days that he needed his father's advice and to say that my heart swelled with love and pride would be an understatement.

"I think it is best we give her some time to adapt to our society. You will fulfil your duty to her without her knowing it until she is ready to understand."

Monaggan seemed relieved by the words I shared with him and he respectfully bowed his head before me.

Oh, the world was often a funny place to be in! To think that it took a human female from another time and place to make my son become the root I always knew he could be was truly a strange occurrence, nearly impossible yet somehow true.
