Chapter 7: Pandora
Stupid me! Why did I blush, why did my heartbeat like helicopter wings taking off, and why did he smile back? So many things were so far away from being answered. I might as well make the most of it as I can, or at least tolerate it. Zane did seem a little off, and ever since that dream he had been avoiding me. Which I totally get, and am thankful for, but at least he didn’t mean to. Just like the fact that I don’t mean to fall in love with him, all I want is to be friends. Which is against everything my danger senses tell me, they all scream don't do it girlfriend. I wonder why its girlfriend, am I like married to my thoughts now? I’m going crazy, so the look on my face must be priceless.
I see a hand wave near my face, “Hello? Anybody home?” I stumble back and fall on the couch. “Hey!”
“Oh good, so you haven’t gone to a different dimension…” I realize this was his attempt at a joke. Good for you know, a beginner, or someone who never makes jokes. Ever. He seems like his attempt at humor was to ease my panic. What a weirdo, and if I think about it, he’s probably the only one other than Jade that had ever tried so hard.
I look deep in hid eyes, which are green right now, which I think means he’s happy. My eyes fill with question. “Do you have a girlfriend?” His expression is priceless, almost like I hit him with a cold fish and made him eat it. Or maybe constipated, that too. “Not that I know of, but you are mine.” I like the way he says that. No! Shut up brain! Don’t let the vulnerable woman side come back! I almost literally slap my face, and with doing to mentally, I look like water just got dumped on my head.
“I didn’t mean for that to make you uncomfortable…” He says, breaking me out of my thoughts. “No, you didn’t, my own thoughts did.” I giggle my laugh. You know, the one you make when you’re like, oh my god I’m stupid. He smiles and makes me a stack of pancakes. Which were buttered to perfection, I didn’t know how hungry I was until I saw them, and then my stomach growled. I wish it wouldn’t be this way, you know, me being here. But what else would I do, these people are relatively nice, except that doctor. I mean if you’re going to be a technologically superior race doesn’t use needles!
I really hate needles, as well as duck lips in photos and people who call them insane and crazy. Honestly, I’m very opinionated, and I show it everyday. If I don’t like someone, they will know, which is why I’m concerned about what I’m doing around him. I mean I haven’t even insulted him at all today. I’ve actually been quite nice to Zane. Although what is a hot girl like me supposed to do. Does saying I’m hot make me conceited, I really don’t know. It’s not that Zane isn’t attractive, but you know, he’s…an alien, and not only that, he kidnapped me. I can’t just let it all go, as much as I want to. I’ll make you a deal I thought to my brain, when Jade shows affection I’ll show mine.
I want so badly to leave here and I can tell my mood swings really bother him. Much to my satisfaction. “So, I was wondering, would you like to see something?” His voice brimming with excitement. What was he so happy about, honestly?
“Depends what it is Zane?” I spoke each syllable making sure he got my point that I stand for no funny business. Any, and he’ll wake up and realize he might be missing a few limbs like his arms, or legs. I hate people who impose on people; I like my personal space. He grabs my arm, roughly, before realizing that he’s much stronger. Weaving through brightly lit corridors, Zane stops in front of what is labeled with strange symbols. He steps inside, pulling me next to him. Okay, he just might have to lose a limb!
The small room, jolts, and starts moving upwards. It must be an elevator. After what seems to be forever, he again, pulls me through more hallways. How big is this place anyways? And, after some time, Zane halts. Making me almost bump into him, which would have been much to embarrassing. He slides his hand into a panel device on the wall, and the door opens. Which, to my surprise, actually has stairs. Where the heck is he leading me? You know tiny elevators and metal ladders only lead to trouble in my book. He gestures for me to go first, and I look up. I only see darkness, and a small door at the top. Much to the size of a hobbit door.
