Fae's POV

I think we sat there in silence for at least as full minute after Zariah stormed out. The seeds scattered on the floor around me looked nearly as lost as I was in this moment. I looked over to the man I now knew was Xavier, he had a worried look on his face. Even worried he was beautiful.

"I am so sorry about that" He finally broke the silence that had settled around us "I came to make things okay with my brother and now I imagine I have messed things up" Xavier looked at the ground as he spoke absentmindedly collecting seeds in his hand.

"I think you should go see him, tell him what happened" I forced myself to smile "im sure you will work it out" I hadn't even realised but at this point we had collected all the seeds.

Xavier stood up, he was tall and slim built unlike his brother who was more heavily built with muscles you could see every time he moved.

"I guess I should go then" Xavier smiled sadly "truly it was nice to meet you Fae, im sure I will see you again" and then he left.

I picked up my bag of seeds, I didnt feel like gardening any more. Maybe tomorrow but not today. I looked around the main room trying to find a place to store the seeds, too lazy to take them back out to the shed dwelling I found them in. Slotting them under a old table I decided to make a Beeline towards the library and sit curled up and read.

As I made my way towards the Library doors I could hear Xavier and Zariah talking inside the study next door. They where talking Amari and i couldn't quite understand their rapid voices as they interrupted and talked over each other. I made out something about irresponsible aimed at Zariah then something about a plot. I gave up on understanding anything else and instead made my way into the library settling myself down with an old book in one of the magnetic chairs in the corner.

After reading for what felt like hours I heard a door slam downstairs. I ignored it and went back to reading, Oliver Twist was a strange piece of fiction, I have no idea how the Author cam up with the idea. Just as I was onto my last two pages the Library door swung open and Zariah marched in a somber look on his sharp face. His white hair was a mess on his head and his clothes didn't at all look put together but somehow he pulled it all off, looking handsome, stylish and regal all at the same time. He caught sight of me snuggled up in my chair and shot daggers at me from across the room.
"Why do I always find you here girl" his words melted of his tongue dripping with distaste.

"Sir, I just wanted to read, I'm sorry" my words stuttered out of my lips, I hadn't realised how nervous I was. Zariah seemed angry when he had walked In and it truly scared me.

"Oh, oh yes okay" Zariah murmured now. His face had gone from angry to sad in a matter of seconds. "May I join you Fae?" He asked me gently, Im sure he could tell how nervous I was but I tried not to let on.

"Of course you can sir" My voice was almost a whisper.
Zariah pulled himself up straight and walked over to the seat beside me I has covered with books I wanted to read. He pulled the first one of the pile examining its cover and spine.
"You have a good taste in novels Fae" he said well flicking through the one he was holding. I was more confident now, he had settled down and my instincts where telling me he was no longer a threat.

"Really sir I dont have good taste at all, I didnt even know what these books were. Thats why I picked them"

Zariah smiled but all in a second it was gone. "Please Fae, do call me by my name. My name is Zariah, not sir"

I was stunned, the prince wanted me to refer to him by his first name. That was quite unheard off in my world. "Ah yes Sid um I mean Zariah" I messed up my words but that seemed to only amuse Zariah.

He smiled more openly this time, leaning over me to peer at what I was reading. "Mmm good choice Fae, Oliver Twist is what my teachers would call a classic"

"The author must have been very clever to create up such a world" I commented on the novel. Zariah seemed almost shocked for a moment.
"Did you not know, the world of Oliver twist was indeed a real place over 500 years ago Fae" His words left me in shock, this horrible world explained as words on a pages sitting in my lap was a real place. "So everything about this is true then Zariah?" I asked still shocked.
"Well no, oliver twist was not a real boy, but the world he lived in, the streets he ran in and the jobs he did where all real" Zariah explained to me.

I didn't say anything. I was still shocked. How had the human race even survived this long if people where being put in brick pipes called chimneys and the dead were carried in boxes through the streets?

Zariah moved my pile of books from the chair and onto the floating table. He sat down in the chair beside me picking up one of the books on my pile.

We sat in silence for ages, his presence was almost comforting and i felt comfortable sitting next to him. We where interrupted once when Mariah brought some dinner for us but even then we said nothing but our thankyous. It was now late and I could see the stars through the glass-domed roof. Zariah broke the silence " We should probably go to bed Fae" his voice was gentle  and nice on the ears. I agreed standing up to stretch. Zariah left first halfway out the door he stopped turning around to look at me. "Thankyou for keeping my company this evening Fae" and with a quick smile he left.
