We followed the railroad for a couple more hours before the sun started to set, we settled on the tracks and sat quietly, we nibbled on some of the food we had, not eating to much of it, wanting to save it. Chris fell asleep first this time, today was very tense so I'm sure he just wanted to leave today behind. Ade also fell asleep shortly afterward, me staring at the now completely star filled sky. It looked like we were going to be engulfed any second. Jeff laid down but stayed awake, also starring at the sky. It was silent between us, but it was a comfortable silence, there was no tension between us at all. When about five minutes passed Jeff sat up and sighed, I looked at him, "You okay?," he nodded, "Can't sleep is all," I nodded looking down, humming a toon to one of the songs we had been learning.in class, before this hell was released. He smiled softly and listened to me softly sing, after a minute he started singing with me, finishing it in a perfect duet. We smiled at each other before his face grew sad, I runbbed his back like I normally d, he slightly relaxed, "Jeff, I know you don't want to talk about it, but I know something is eating at you, I can see it in your eyes. You can't hold it in forever, please just.....talk to me," he bit his lip before softly crying, I scooted closer and held him softly, I rocked him back and forth while he leaned into me. He leaned away slowly, and looked at the ground, "You remind me.of her sometimes, when she was happy with me....," I had a feeling he was talking about his wife, so i let him continue, "Your smile, it shines like hers did, but...she wasn't happy anymore and I.never understood why, She hated the fact that i put so much work into my Job, I was gone a lot and she was always mad, I tried my best to keep her happy," I rubbed his back softly, before standing up and sitting in front of him shortly after, I grabbed his hands in mine, looking him straight in the eye, "Jeff, You listen to me, You. Are one of the most amazing people I've ever met. See the thing about life is that, you can't make everyone happy, you can try, you can try with every fiber in your being, but sometimes it isn't enough, and thats okay, because that's the point about being human, we have a specific life that we must live and if this is it, hold it up with one hand, to the sky. And let it shine. Nobody can say they lived a perfect life, but they do find ways to make it better. So don't blame yourself, for something you couldnt control, you tried your best. That's what matters...," he had tears streaming down his face, I pulled him in for a tight hug, holding him close reassuring him that he was not alone. His grip tightened around my waist as he sobbed softly, and surprisingly I didn't mind at all, I was going to let him cry as much as he needed to. After about ten minutes his grip loosened, I looked at his face again, whiping his tears away with my thumbs, "Now do me a favor and smile, it's one of your best features," he softly smiles at me, "See there's a start, now do you feel better?," he traced his fingers along my back slightly and nodded, "Yeah I do, thank you Mara," I smiled softly, "It's no problem, when ever you need to talk I'm here," he nods, "I see that now," he chuckles.
When I turned to pull away and sit next to him, he wouldn't budge, he held onto me tightly he trailed swirls on my back as he looked at me. His smile fell quickly as the Screech from before came from far away, he look around confused, his eyes rested behind me, towards the forest, I glanced behind me, there stood the same figure from before but it was hiding behind a tree, peaking out from behind it. Jeff turned my head back to him, "Don't acknowledge it, ignore it," I nodded slowly keeping my eyes on Jeff only, finally his tensed shoulders relaxed. I stood slowly, leaving his warmth and looked through my bag for a small blanket. And then slowly laying down beside him. After awhile i fell asleep. While listening to the crickets.
Jeffs P.O.V
I'm falling for her. And to.be honest, I don't mind at all. I watch her carefully, and every now and then.glancing over at the others making.sure they're okay.
The night was quiet, my mind was racing all over the place, but it always in some way found its way back to.her, her dark brown eyes starring down at me. It was a feeling I've never felt before. A feeling I will never be able to understand. I sighed as I looked back up at the star filled sky and waited for.morning.Authors Notes: I have no idea where i was going to go with that.
