It's was strange when everyone left. It was like nothing at all had happened. I felt like something was missing again. I couldn't play one last wish. The only thing that seemed to have changed was the way I thought. I had a completely different perspective on the world around me. Music wasn't just music anymore. It was a way to represent my emotions. I didn't understand it. I got bored doing nothing around the house, so I went to see Carlisle. I found him in his office.
"Hey, Lilla." He greeted me from across the room.
"Hi, whatcha doin?" I asked him as I made my way to his desk.
"I'm trying to fix Esme's watch. It stopped working somehow." He leaned in real close to the magnifying glass that was set up, only a centimeter away from the watch. I hadn't noticed I was staring at the watch until Carlisle said my name. "Lilla, I'm sorry... about Alec."
I sighed, "it's okay. I just don't know what I'm going to do while he's gone."
"Have you wrote a letter to him yet?" Carlisle asked.
"No, I thought it was pointless. He's not even back there yet." I replied with boredom in my voice.
"If you send it early he'll get it as soon as he's back." Carlisle suggested.
"Yeah, I guess you right." I stood up to go write a letter. "Thank you Carlisle." He nods at me and I leave him to his work.
I wanted Alec to feel special and like he was a very valuable person, because to me he is. The only time I would ever open my heart up like this is if I was writing a letter to Alec.
Dear Alec,
Welcome back home. I know that's kinda crazy to hear from me, but who cares. I wanted you to be in a good mood when you first made it back. I know it's hard to smile right now, but I promise that in the end it will all work out. I can't wait to get a letter from you. I can't wait to see you in a month. I miss you. I love you.
Love,
Lilla Malia CullenI'm not sure why I put my whole name, but I did. I pressed a wildflower from the meadow onto the bottom of the letter. It added a sort of elegance to it. Then I put it in the envelope and left it in the mailbox for the mail man. I sighed and went back inside to carry on with my day.
¥ that letter had traveled all the way from Lilla's home in Forks, to Alec's home with the volturi. Somehow the letter had made it there on the same day as Alec.
Alec's pov
Here I was climbing back up these stairs, under the clock tower ,in the middle of the night. Aro had wanted to avoid as many human as he could, he was hungry from the long flight. My face was completely straight, like it always is when I'm doing volturi business. As we walked through the hall of the giant castle, I couldn't help but think about Lilla.
Her beautiful brown hair, that seemed to glow to an orange color if she was in the sun. Her magnificent smile. Her confusing blue-green- gray eyes that i obsessed over. The way her smooth lips had made me feel intoxicated. The way her sweatshirt smelled of flowers and trees.
I was snapped from my thoughts when my dear sister Jane had grabbed ahold of my arm. "Alec, you have mail." She said as she smiled, giving me a wink. I nodded my head in thanks and quickly took the letter to my room. I gently open the letter, beginning careful not to rip it. I feel my insides melt as I read her words. I could practically hear the words being said by her in person.
When I finish reading, I decided to write mine.
Dear My Lilla,
Thank you for trying to make me happier. Even though this is not the life in which I would like to have at this point in time, I will look to the brighter side. Our time apart will only make my love for you grow stronger. Wherever you are, that is my home. A home that one day I will return to. I will always miss you and will always love you.
Always loving you,
Alec James Smith. That was the first time I had used my full name in centuries. I never told anyone, because Jane didn't want anyone to know. I only told Lilla, because one day I knew I would marry her. Placing the letter in an envelope, I placed it with the other stack of letters to be sent from the volturi address.
