Ava's P.O.V

"I love you." I said again, this time slower, he started smiling. "Damn it, I wanted to say it first." He sighed, I laughed, "you did, when you thought I was sleeping, when you took me home from the beach." I told him, his head snapped in my direction. "You heard me?" He asked shocked, I nodded, he pulled me onto him just like he had that one day when his mom walked in on us making out.

Except this time he didn't start kissing me, he just watched me as I sat there confused as to why he made me sit on his lap. "I love you." He smiled, looking like a weight has been lifted off his chest, "thank you, for pulling that guy off of me." I told him, pulling the ice away from his cheek, he needs to wait a while and do it again. "I'm supposed to do that." He laughed softly, resting his forehead on my shoulder and kissing my collar bone, I ran my fingers through the hair on the back of his head, making him sigh.

I carefully got off of him, "lay down." I demanded gently, seeing how tired he is, he didn't even bother trying to fight it so he laid down, putting his head in my lap, looking up at me and smiling. I grabbed the bag of ice and put it on his cheek, "you're gonna have a nice bruise there." I sighed, he shrugged, "can't change anything now." He didn't even seem fazed by it, I laughed to myself before turning the TV on. And that's how we stayed for the longest time until somehow the rolls got reversed, I fell asleep with my head in his lap while he watched TV.

"Baby girl." I heard faintly, I made a face and rolled over only to find my face being shoved against something, I opened my eyes and realized I was burying my face in Theo's shirt. I lifted my head, taking a second to look around, I gasped when I saw the time, it was already midnight. Theo's laugh pulled my attention towards him, "it's late." I stated, looking at the bruise already forming on his cheek, although his nose looks fairly good, considering what happened.

"I gotta go." He told me, starting to get up off the couch. "Be careful." I murmured, kissing him. "I will, love you." I blushed, almost forgetting that we had exchanged those precious words earlier. "Love you." I repeated, closing the front door behind him and locking it, I trudged up the stairs once I turned everything off, I knew Stiles was home, his jeep was parked outside. I stuck my head in his door to see him sleeping, slowly I backed out so I wouldn't wake him.

I slipped out of my clothes and put on some loose pajamas, climbing into bed I forced myself to think about all the good things going on. Going to sleep has been my only problem these past couple of weeks, unless I'm with someone I can't seem to do it, but I have to eventually go to sleep by myself again, so why not start now. I laid back and closed my eyes, thinking of the better things that happened today.

I stirred as my phone started ringing, I squinted at the clock and groaned, it's 1am, who's calling me. I picked the phone up, furrowing my eyebrows as Theo's number came up, "hello?" I asked, feeling nervous, "Ava?" I heard the unforgettable voice of Theo's mother. I bit the inside of my cheek, wanting to scream because she's calling me, "yes, Mrs. Raeken." I answered politely, "what did you do to my son?!" She practically shrieked at me, "mom!" I heard Theo in the background, "I didn't-" she cut me off, "he had to pull some guy off of you, why? Because you can't fend for yourself now?!" She scolded me as if I personally did something.

"Ma'am, believe me when I say I tried to get the man off of me." I responded, keeping my cool although I was annoyed by her temper, and her always interfering with our relationship, Theo doesn't even like having me over at his house because his mom always bothers us, she doesn't even want me to be touching him.

"Cut the ma'am crap, I know what you think of me!" She said in a condescending tone, I rolled my eyes, grateful that she couldn't see me. She didn't even say anything else, just hung up, and I have never been so happy for someone to hang up on me.

I woke up to five different texts from Theo, "baby, I'm so sorry about my mom" "she's still yelling at me lmao, I'm so done." "I'm gonna go crash at a friends house" "no ones home" "I'm on your couch, I didn't want to wake you so I called Stiles"

I jumped up at the last one, I pulled my cover up on and went downstairs as fast as possible. I found my dad and Theo in the kitchen talking, Theo looked tired, his hair was going in all sorts of directions. His eyes looked sunken in, and the bruise on his cheek got significantly worse overnight. My dad noticed me standing in the entry way to the kitchen, he motioned to me making Theo turn around on his chair, he gave me a soft smile trying to hide the fact that he looked exhausted and in some pain.

I've never really interacted with Theo in front of my dad before so I felt a bit awkward, but forced myself not to show it. "You okay?" I whispered to him as I kissed his cheek quickly, he shrugged a little bit, not really answering the question. "Morning dad." I smiled, maneuvering around him to get something to drink. "Morning." He responded, I looked over at Theo who was sitting there silently, which isn't his normal behavior.

"Dare I ask what you two were talking about?" I joked, to both of them. Theo didn't have time to react before my dad started talking, "well, he was telling me how he was going to start looking at apartments." My eyes widened and I started coughing on the water I was drinking, my dad patted my back. "I'll take this as my signal to leave." He waved his hand and ventured off towards the living room, until he was out of earshot.

"Theo?" I asked slowly, he sighed looking up at me, "yeah?" He responded, as if my dad didn't just drop a bombshell. "Are you really going to look at apartments?" I asked moving towards him, he nodded slowly, watching me intently for my reaction. "Why?" I asked, I was currently full of questions and I was getting anxious for answers.

"My mom, she's being a total-" I cut him off, "that's why your leaving?" I asked, "because of last night?" I added, he slumped down in the chair, making him look smaller than he is. "No, and yes. She doesn't stop and it's not even just about me being with you, it's everything I do." He groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose but then pulling his hand away when it hurt. I stood next to his chair and sighed softly when he leaned his head against me. I don't know what to tell him, I mean he's about to turn eighteen so technically he can get an apartment, but I don't know if that'll be best for him.

"You're one hundred percent positive?" I asked him softly, my head snapping up when Stiles tiredly trudged into the kitchen. "Stiles!" I heard our dad call faintly, I smiled to myself before putting my attention back on Theo. He nodded into my stomach, "I am." He mumbled.
