Lost

Chapter 2

I followed Eve and Harry into their neighbors house. The house was just slightly smaller than there, but as we walked in I realized I liked this house better. It looked lived in, like there was a family living here. 

"Oh! Eve! Harry! How have you been?" An older lady exclaimed.

"Fine, thank you." Eve said as she stepped to the side.

The older woman's gaze turned to me. "Oh! You must be Beccalyn!!! It's so nice to meet you dear!" I smiled at her.

"Please call me Beck." She smiled and nodded her head.

"It's nice to meet you, Beck. My name is Helen and my husbands name is Bernie." I smiled and nodded. "My grandson is in the living room, just down the hall if you want to go hang out with him while us adults finish dinner." I grimaced.

"No thank you. I prefer to help out with dinner." She smiled and nodded her head.

"Okay, well then let's get crackin'." I smiled at her as I followed her into kitchen.

Dinner was finally finished, I helped set the table with Helen. She was so blunt. She reminded me of my mother. She was like an older version of who my mother used to be. She's fun, loving, kind, caring, blunt, perverted, and so many other things. It made my stomach tighten. Once I was finished setting the table, Helen told me to sit down.

"Kaiden! Dinner time!" Helen and Bernie were sitting at the ends of the table, while Eve and Harry sat next to each other on one side of the table, leaving the empty seat next to me. As Kaiden walked in I wiped all emotions off my face, and sat up straight. 

"Beck meet my grandson Kaiden. He's your age and he goes to your school!" Helen exclaimed excitedly.

I nodded my head towards Kaiden, I hadn't really looked at him yet, and I didn't plan on it. I just started eating my food until he had to open his big mouth.

"So, why did you go to jail?" I head snapped in his direction, surprised by this question.

"Kaiden!" Helen yelled.

"I don't believe that is any of your business." I spoke calmly. "Helen, Eve that was a delicious meal, but I believe I have eaten enough. May I please be excused?" Helen smiled sadly at me.

"Of course darling." I smiled at her.

"Thank you, oh and Bernie it sounds like you just need to replace the muffler, then your car should be fine." I gave them a nod and walked back to Eve's house to go to bed.

Once I was dressed in my pajamas I thought back to what Kaiden had asked me, why did I go to Juvie? I fell asleep thinking about it.

Today was my first day of school, and Nathan would be following me around the whole entire day. To say I'm mad would be a huge underestimation. I shut my alarm off and got out of bed. I walked over to the closet and grabbed a Guns N' Roses t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans. I then put on my black work boots.

I headed  to the bathroom and wash my face and brushed my hair, not bothering with makeup. I wouldn't say I'm ugly. I then grabbed my backpack and a Vermont sweatshirt and headed downstairs. I honestly just wanted to get this day done and over with.

"Honey, you look nice." I smiled and nodded my head.

"Thanks! Where's Nathan?" She smile and nodded towards outside. "Okay, have a good day!" 

I walked outside before she could respond.

"That's what you're going to wear on your first day of school?" I smiled and nodded.

"Yup."

After that the ride to school was silent. When we pulled into the parking spot reserved for Nathan, I opened up the door and step out...
