"Your majesty, I have come to tell you and congratulate you that we have won over the southern valley," a male voice says nobly. That voice. I know that voice. I know that voice all too well. It's a voice that I haven't heard in while, a voice that I've wanted to hear for a while, a voice that I've wanted to share recent journey with. As I peer over my shoulder, my eyes slightly widen and my face brightens when I see who had just entered the room.

No way. Is that..... Ken? I stare at the features of the young man who just walked in. He has jett black hair, like me, and dark brown his eyes. His facial structures are similar to mine as well. Oh my god. It is him. I can't remember the last time I saw him. It was during the holidays, which was like decades ago. Wow, his hair grew a lot since the last time I saw him. I remember it used to be a buzz cut. Haha, I can still picture him with that haircut. He looked so funny. He's also become quite handsome too.

I quickly skim over his attire. He looks good in that uniform. He is wearing a white shirt underneath a very clean and majestic, blue jacket. It looks very similar to what the others are wearing. Wait a minute, is he a knight too? Oh shit. I thought he was just a guard. This means he's going to be training with me. Not like that's a bad thing or anything or I don't want to train with him. It's just that he has no idea that I applied to become a knight, so this is going to be interesting. Well, hopefully, he won't go all ballistic and tell me to go home, but I have a feeling that he will, except for the ballistic part.

"Ken, this is good news," the king responds with a pleased expression on his face. Ken bows in respect.

"I have been told that the new recruits have come to the palace," Ken states in calm voice. Oh shit on a stick. Dammit, this is not good. Once he hears my name, he's going to be so surprised that he'll no doubt piss himself.

"Yes, the new recruits are here," the king replies with a nod as he gestures to me and Shion. I gulp as I wait for the king to say our names. Ken, please for the sake of me being your sister, don't freak out otherwise it will look suspicious and then I will have trained all these years for nothing. I try to hide my face behind my short hair as Ken glances over at us. "This one is Shion." The king swiftly points to Shion who gives a small bow. Ken bows back in greeting before turning towards me. "And this is Rikiya." I take in a deep breath as I fully turn towards Ken. My face is now fully visible to him. Ken's eyes widen in shock when he sees me making me gulp nervously. He stares at me flabbergasted. Man, now everybody is looking at us.

"Rikiya?" Ken asks as he continues to stare at me with his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open. Please stop staring at me like that. It'll be suspicious!

"Uh.... hi Ken," I greet him with a nervous smile. His expression goes even wider with surprise. Well, this got awkward really quickly. I notice all the other knights watching us in confusion and muttering as to how me and Ken know each other. To try and clear the awkwardness, I briefly clear my throat, which seems to work because Ken seems to have gotten out of his shocked daze.

"Ken, who is this?" The king asks in confusion and curiosity. Ken glances from the king to me in panic.

"I..... uh..... sh- he! Uh... is my.... little..... bro?" Ken says in a questioning way. I mentally face palm. That's my brother alright. He never does well with lying. He either stutters or he has huge pauses between words. Well, we're getting off to a good start here. Note the sarcasm. The other knights seem to be surprised by this.

"Rikiya is your little brother?" Haku asks in complete and utter shock. Ken glances at me and I give a nervous nod. Ken glances back at Haku and gives a firm nod. "What the hell? Why didn't you tell any of us this?" By now all the other knights have their eyes glued to Ken in wonder and curiosity.
