In the morning Jessica got up and ran up the attic stairs. Nearly tripping over her own feet, she got to the open floorboard. "Here it is!" She said pulling out the journal. "OH MY GOD! SOMEBODY WROTE IN IT YESTERDAY!!!!!!" Jessica said jumping up and down. "Wait why am I happy that just means that somebody broke into my house!" She started to read the pages when something hit her. "Wait this belongs to a boy, probably about my age! I wonder if he needs help?" Jessica said flipping threw the pages of the book. After various pages she said, "He says he is different? What does he mean?" She said examining some of the pages.

"What are you doing with that?" A teenage boys voice made Jessica jump. The boy had semi longish dark brown hair. Dark brown eyes. He was wearing a plain black t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans. His shoes were black what seemed to be combat boots but it was too dark up there for her too see to be sure.

"Who are you? And why are you in my house?" Jessica said looking at the handsome male figure in front of her.

"I am Jake , and I am here because this used to be my house a long time ago." Jake said looking down into Jessica's round blue eyes.

"If you lived here a long time ago, why are you still here?" Jessica asked confused.

"Because I didn't move my parents and all of my stuff did." Jake said flinching at the last part he said. Jessica felt a sad story coming on, she loved 'chick flicks' as most people call them.

"Why did they move without you and how long has it been...... Just you living alone?" Jessica said hesitating to finish her sentence.

"It's been a while..... But you are here now so I will take my stuff and go. Sorry to bother you." Jake said picking up the journal and a picture.

"You don't have to leave! I want you to have somewhere to live!" Jessica said raising her voice. Jake stopped.

"Okay, if you insist but I will keep quiet so nobody knows about me. Okay?" Jake said putting his stuff back down. Jessica smiled and nodded.

"Hey maybe you can go to school after the summer ends. Jessica said with a jolt of energy.

"I can't go to school. Sorry....." Jake's eyes hit the floor and you could tell there was something that he wasn't telling Jessica...

"Why? You can trust me I promise!" Jessica yelled. Jake sat down on the hard wooden floor.

"Because I can't and I know I can trust you." Jake said Jessica smiled and walked towards him. "Jessica, I just think you should be careful because this town has crazy written all over it!" Jake said touching her shoulder with his freezing cold hand. Jessica flinched.

"Sorry! I am just kinda cold. Always....." Jake said pulling his hand away from her shoulder.

"But it is summer? How are you cold?" Jessica asked confused. Jake shrugged. Then he picked up the picture he had and placed it in the journal. "Who is that in the picture with you?" Jessica asked taking the picture out of the journal.

Jake sighed. "That is my ex girlfriend, Sabrina." Jake said shivering.

"Oh, I am so sorry to bring it up. Are you still in love with her?" Jessica asked Jake sadly. Jake shaked his head no. "Oh okay." Jessica said feeling awkward. "Wanna come and see my room? It's really nice I just got most of the stuff un packed!" Jessica said excitedly.

"Sure, why not." Jake said walking towards the door. "Wait. What about your parents, won't they think it is weird that a teenage boy is walking out of the attic with their daughter?" Jake said confused.

"No my mom is at work and so is my dad the only one you have to worry about is my older brother Justin." Jessica said opening the attic door.

"Oh okay." Jake said slipping out the attic door after Jessica. They got to the hall way of her room.
