Luke's POV :
For the first time in my life, my heart actually ached, it felt broken. Rosie's words were the bullets that she fired on my heart.
How could she say that broken hearts do heal and one day I would find somebody who would heal me? Didn't she know that she means the world to me? She was somewhere I belonged to, she was my home. With out her, I was shelter less. I needed her to add all the colours to my life but she made my world go black and white.
I couldn't believe my eyes reading all that she had said. She said I was her best friend, her first love. She promised that she won't ever give up on us. She always said she'd never hide anything with me, then how could she leave me alone?
I just couldn't interpret the reason behind Rosie's major step.
I knew that there must be something really serious due to which she did this. But the only thing that hit my heart was that even if there was a lot of family's pressure or an immense guilt in her heart, she should have shared it with me. I was always ready to comfort her and help her through her diffucult times. But there must be something much bigger than just her family's pressure. Rosie could never leave my side just for this.
I was sitting in my room with my phone opened with Rosie's message. I read it over and over again for a million times. I tried to figure out what was there deep inside her, which she was trying to hide.
I looked out of the window, remembering all the times we've had. All the moments we shared, all the comfort I recieved from her. Her smile just lighted up my life. She always used to try her best to make me happy. Our first hug, in that spring gala, that feeling of being that close to her, feeling her touch, her voice when she whispered me that she loves me. Felt like it wasn't her, it was her soul speaking to me. Telling me to stick to her forever.
That birthday she sang for me on the call, and then our long hug besides the lake. She promised that day that she'll always stay. The way we used to talk to each other on call every single might. The cake I gave to her on her birthday. She looked so good in the shirt that I gifted her, she used to tell me that she wore it like a million times after that.
Our secret rendezvous in the car. Our hugs were the most comforting things in the world. Our inflating closeness was something I began dreaming of since the day my love deepened for her.I wanted her in my life like nobody else would ever want a girl.
I remembered the day we went for a date in the café near my home on the first day of the new year.
I thought that having her with me on that day and praying for us to be together would keep her with me forever.
Remember that day suddenly reminded me of something. That evening, my mum angrily slammed the door at my face and threatened me that she'd do something major and I would have to face the consequences.
I immediately galloped downstairs to see her.
She was present in the kitchen, preparing my sandwiches for me. She seemed quite normal, really not ferocious like she was before. I stood there in the kitchen's door, waiting for her to be free.
While she was working, Rosie crossed my mind again and tears formed into my eyes and nearly dripped before my mum called out.
"Good morning son. Today you're up so late? Were you studying the whole night?" She smiled at me.
After all, she was my mother. I loved her, and I knew she loved me too. She just didn't want me to take a path that leads to a bad place. She wanted me to pursue every precious thing in the world and be a good person.
But she had no idea that my choice wasn't as bad as she thought.
She loved me like no other girl in the world would ever do."Mom, I need to talk." I glared at her
"What happened?" She shrugged in confusion as if she was unknown of whatever happened.
"Mom? What did you say to her?"
And her facial expressions changed like the rain clouds took over the blue sky. She was as pure as crystal. Whatever she had in heart, that was what she had on her face."Oh, so she complained to you about me. What does she want!"
She shouted.
"Oh, so that's the real thing. You said something to her and that is why she ignored me earlier and now she left me. Was that what you wanted?"
I spoke in a loud pitch.
"She left you? I never thought she would-"
"Exactly. Please mom, you don't know her. Her mum is your cousin right? You've been so close to her, she's such a good lady. And so is Rosie."
I lowered my voice and tried to explain her.
"Luke. I'm not uncomfortable with this girl, I'm only not agreed upon the idea of letting you have a girlfriend. I want my son to be successful. Anybody can a have a girl to love him deeply and care about him, everyone finds someone when it is the right time. I have no problem with it, but at this point of life, I want my son to fulfill all our dreams. We want to you in a better place Luke.""She is that better place mom. She is not responsible for my low grades or my neglectful behaviour towards you people. It's just my carelessness."
"Stop blaming yourself son. Just forget about her. You will be okay."
She smiled at me and patted on my head.
"I'm playing the sandwiches here, eat them. And I know Rosie isn't a bad person, she's just not right for you "She said those words and placed the sandwiches on the counter before she went inside her room.
Mom talked to Rosie about being distant from me. I got the thing that my mom's words made her upset but what did she actually say that made her go miles away from me. She avoided me for 20 days after that but she came back to me. Something happened later after that event which also became the reason why she left.I grabbed the plate and sat in my living room.
While eating, the only thought in my mind was to get Rosie back in my life.I didn't know how was I going to make that happen. I just knew that I needed to rise that sun back in my life and end this dark night.
Luke finally knows the reason why Rosie became so upset. But he's still unknown of what actually made Rosie go crazy and leave him.
