The two decided on going to the arena, hoping that their skills had improved now that they were able to sleep again. Loki worked on his illusions on one side of the arena while Sif was practicing her sword skills. The two didn't talk much for they didn't need to.
All they could think about was each other. For Sif, she saw this as a problem. She was a goddess with a title to keep, she was one of the boys! She couldn't let a man- no matter how attractive - be a priority. Ever. And yet, she found herself making him one.
Sif slashed away at an opponent, blades clanging loudly at the impact. She ducked as the sword cut through where her neck would have been, jabbing hers forward and into their stomach lightly. Of course it was just practice so she didn't do real damage, but she did draw blood.
The man politely excused himself to go get the wound cleaned up, Loki watching out of the corner of his eye. He admired her as she balanced the sword on her hand, flipping it in the air and catching it. It could have easily taken off her wrist if the timing wasn't perfect but she was confident in her abilities.
Loki smirked, a (not so) bright idea coming to his mind. Using magic, he got the sword to shoot away from her and fall onto the ground by her feet with a light 'thud'. He chuckled lightly as her eyes widened and she stared at it, quite confused until she heard his muffled laughs.
"Loki!" She scoffed, leaning over to pick it up but he sent it a few inches out of her grasp as she shot him a glare. "Stop!" She tried stepping on it with her boot but again he brushed it to the side with a laugh.
His eyes twinkled at her as she got even more frustrated with him. They still weren't exactly on the best terms, but Loki had an idea of how he could get it all back. She grasped it quickly when he wasn't paying close attention, letting out a triumphant shout and sticking her tongue out at the Prince. He sent her a playful look, using magic to pull the sword towards him, her still pulling on it. Her smug look fell as she realized what he was doing, pulling backwards with her feet digging into the ground.
He was laughing as she glared over the sword at him, pulling back with all her might. And just when she started being dragged forward, she rolled her eyes and released it, the base of the sword smashing into Loki's face as he let out a surprised yelp. She was the one laughing now as she watched him lose his balance and fall on his butt into the dirt with the sword in his lap.
"That was not very nice." He scolded playfully, rubbing his starting-to-bruise face.
"Who ever mentioned that I play nice, hmm?" She replied, holding out her arm to help him up. He gladly took it, but getting up wasn't his intention. Quickly, he pushed her feet out from under her, pulling her towards him by her arm. Sif let out a shocked gasp as she collided into his chest, her face inches from his.
He gave her a crooked smile, letting out a small chuckle that vibrated from his chest. Sif scowled, raising her hand and slapping him on the face. With now wide eyes and hand back on his cheek, he raised an eyebrow at her. "What was that for?!"
"You deserved it for scaring me." She retorted, rolling her eyes as she blew a stray piece of hair from her face. He couldn't help but grin at her, she was quite adorable when annoyed, even though he would never say that out loud.
"Maybe so. But I think you owe me an apology." He teased, gently pushing the piece of hair behind her ear, his emerald eyes flicking back to hers.
"Is that so?" Sif asked sarcastically, attempting to roll off of him. But, Loki held her there firmly, a mischievous smile plastered on his face.
"So." He answered, the smirk not leaving his face. She stuck her tongue out at him playfully, struggling to get out of his grasp. "Stop moving!" He laughed as she wiggled around, trying to get away.
"Or what?" She challenged, narrowing her big brown eyes. He took a second, planning on what the 'or what' would be.
"I'll just have to tickle you." He stated simply, shrugging his broad shoulders. She scoffed, poking his nose.
"Lucky for me, I'm not ticklish." Sif replied smugly, crossing her arms.
"Is that so?" He mocked her voice, still holding her still as she tried to desperately shimmy away. With a playful smile, he rolled so she was now below him, pinned to the dirt floor by her wrists.
"Get off, you oaf!" She shouted, letting out a squeal as his hand trailed up her side. She was indeed ticklish.
"Or what?" He copied, continuing his 'attack' on the poor woman. Her laughs echoed in the stadium, tears falling from her eyes.
"STOP!" She managed to gasp, trying to knee him off. "I WILL SLAY YOU-HAHA-IN YOUR SLUMBER!"
The Prince being very amused at her struggles hadn't noticed the arrival of quite a few people, including Thor. "BROTHER! That is obscene!" Loki leaped from Sif at the sudden outburst, his emerald eyes wide.
"That was not at all what it seemed!" He replied, Sif still trying to catch her breath as she sat up, blushing a fierce red.
Among the crowd was Fandral, Volstagg, Hogun, Thor and Frigga. The Queen found herself in a fit of laughter, having to excuse herself from the arena.
"How vulgar of you two, I hadn't expected such acts from you, Lady Sif!" Fandral teased, instantly earning a death stare. "The arena is a public place, as you should know!"
"Shut up! That was all Loki's doing, he attacked me!" She yelled, brushing the dirt from her pants.
"I would hardly call tickling an attack." Loki said with an eyeroll, his smirk still on his face. She was embarrassed.
Thor patted his brother on the back, sarcastically congratulating him. "Thank Odin it's not a horse this time." The joke was light hearted but still bothered Loki quite a bit as his face flushed. Sif didn't know about the horse.
"Don't you dare utter a word." He replied through clenched teeth, his voice barely over a whisper. Thor nodded, but his eyes still glittered the same playfulness.
"I suggest you two get a room to satisfy your needs." Volstagg chuckled, shaking his head. "Because your patience has clearly run out!"
"Maybe we will!" Loki answered, glancing playfully at Sif as she started choking from surprise.
"Excuse me?! That will not be necessary!" Sif yelped out, her large brown eyes getting larger yet. Everyone excluding the warrioress burst into laughter, causing her blush to grow a brighter shade of red. "I despise you all." She mumbled, covering her face in embarrassment with her hand.
"Looks like I'm not the only liar in this bunch, hmm?" Loki joked, laying an arm around her shoulders, his eyes seeming to burn intensely into hers with a hidden passion. She found herself not able to look away, as much as she wanted to. "For I think, correct me if I am wrong, I just heard you utter that you 'despised' us."
"I do." Sif said, but her answer came out as only a whisper.
"Lies." He whispered as his face inched towards hers, turning his head slightly and closing his eyes. It seemed for them both that everyone had disappeared and the only people in the nine realms were the both of them, but they quickly came back to reality as Fandral interrupted.
"As stated before, I suggest you two find yourself a private area for such actions for we don't want to waste time bailing you two from prison for public indecency." He chuckled, lifting an eyebrow.
Now more than ever, it seemed to be a good suggestion.
