[ Chapter F I V E ]
"Fuck! I'm going to be late!" I groaned as I sat up on my bed on Saturday; it was half past nine and I was supposed to meet up with Dexter in half an hour.
My bed just got comfier as the thought of leaving it popped into my mind.
As I picked up my phone to text him and let him know that I'd be a little late, my screen lit up and made a 'ting' sound.
Hey! I got a little busy, can we meet up at 10:30 instead of 10? -Dexter
Yeah, sure. -Sam
I decided not to let him know how happy that made me given that I now had an hour to get ready.
Great and be on time! -Dexter
I just rolled my eyes at that. I wish that there was a proper emoji for that since I do it all day long. I would have liked to let people know how much I appreciate them and their comments by text as well.
Anyhow, I quickly got out of bed and headed to the shower. It took me exactly twenty-seven minutes to get ready, including the five minutes I fell asleep on the toilet.
Hun, I guess I could've made it on time, or only a few minutes late.
I decided to head down to have breakfast since I had about half an hour to kill.
As I prepared everything for pancakes, George, one of my brothers, came into the kitchen.
"Hey, what are you doing up so early on Saturday?" He mumbled, rubbing his left eye.
"I have to go study at half-past ten, and I had some extra time so I decided to make breakfast."
"Pancakes?"
"Yas," I confirmed.
A huge grin found it's way on his face. And I added some more ingredients to my mixture. A lot more actually since I decided to make some extra batter for my other siblings as well for when they woke up.
"Lill'sisy," that's what he used to call me, "you'll never believe who I ran into yesterday!"
I looked up to let him know that I was listening.
"I don't suppose you remember her. But I ran into Hazel, your babysitter, my ex."
Oh, that reminds me...
"Yeah, of course, I remember her. She was the best." I looked at him closely to see if I'd get a reaction out of him but his face was completely neutral.
"How long has it been since you last saw her?" I asked casually.
He looked up at me with his thinking face on. "Oh, I think it's been four years, at least. I don't think I ran into her much after we broke up."
"What happened between you two anyway?" I tried to ask casually as I passed him a plate filled with pancakes. But unfortunately, I wasn't supposed to get my answer so quickly since right at that moment my brother other, Fred, walked through the door.
"Pancakes!" He chimed as soon as his eyes landed on the big pile. I just turned around wordlessly, rolling my eyes and turned up the heat again deciding to make a few more for myself.
