Sam wakes me up early by banging on my door.

"Okay, dammit!" I yell. "I'm up, shit."

Sam chuckles before I hear him walk away. I groan loudly and I climb out of bed. I put on some black skinny jeans and a fancy red blouse. It is nice enough for a court date in Port Angeles. I put my red pumps on and a brown jacket. I straighten my hair and I go to the living room.

"I'm ready, happy?" I ask sarcastically to Sam.

He nods his head in approval.

"'Melinda, come eat before we go." Emily calls from the kitchen.

I glare playfully at Sam before I drag myself to the kitchen and I plop down into a random chair. Paul walks in fully awake and showered. I groan in annoyance at everyone being early risers as Emily hands me a huge mug of black coffee. I smile and I sip on it.

"You poor baby." Paul coos. "You look cute, babe."

I roll my eyes. Paul smiles brightly and he gets a piece of bacon from the skillet.

"Sip it, dog." I growl. "I need food too."

Paul look at me dumb folded.

"She's tired; she gets irritable." Jacob sad as he walks in with my clothes.

Paul nods in understanding. "My mom is the same; so is Leah."

I growl at everyone who is talking about my my being a morning person. I feel much better after I eat. Paul chuckles and I smack him. He gasps before we all pile into Emily's jeep. We ride to the court house in Port Angeles, there is Sue pulling up with Billy.

I walk in with Sam and Emily; Paul is sitting on the bench outside the courtroom. We are here so my custody can be signed over to Sam and Emily , witnessed by a judge and jury.

The judge demands them to get this over with, because he has a custody battle in twenty minutes. Billy signs his papers quickly them passes it to Sam and Emily. I go out and I sit beside Paul. I am not needed in there.

"Let's get some food." Sam says as he and Emily exit the courtroom.

We stop by McDonald's and walk in. Pauls ex, Ginger, is working today. He dated her the first time I was here three years ago.

"Hey, Paul, hi Paul's new girlfriend." She chirps.

Forgot to mention, she is hyper and childish, that's why he broke up with her.

"I'm Melinda Black." I tell her.

"I'm Ginger Miller." She giggles. "Oh, Paul, I'm engaged now!"

"Congrats." He smiles.

They remained friends, which I think is great. Ginger takes our orders and she gets to work on making our food. Paul smiles and wraps an arm around my shoulder. Ginger hands us our orders and I pay.

"Paul, a man should pay." Ginger scolds.

"This one is stubborn." He grumbles.

I smile and I wave to Ginger as we find our seats. Sam smiles at my friendliness. I eat my Big Mac before slurping down my soda. Paul and I walk outside before Sam and Emily do.

Paul holds me in his arms against the jeep while he wait. I rest my head on his bulky chest and he lets out a sigh of satisfaction. Sam and Emily join us soon enough. We all climb back into the jeep before we head back towards La Push.

When we reach home I skip inside.

"How the hell are you skipping in those heels?" I hear Paul tell behind me.

"I'm a girl." I shrug.

"Bella is clumsy and a girl." Jared points out when I get inside and there is Bella.

"All girls are different." I smirk. "Swan, what are you doing here and your leech is back?"

The pack all cheer me on where Jacob scolds me. I flip Jacob off a I stare at the backstabbing girl beside him. I roll my eyes and I lead Paul to my room. We lock the door, he is spending the night with me.

I lay my head on Paul's chest when I'm in my pajamas. "I wish I had gotten the wolf gene."

Paul chuckles. "I bet. I kinda do too."

I close my eyes and I listen to Paul's heartbeat. His heartbeat helps me dose off into a deep sleep.
