The bell sounded and I instantly jumped back; away from the whip that snapped where I just stood. "You're fast." The woman sneered as I dusted my jeans. "Yeah, too bad you're not." Just as the lady caught my meaning, I already had her pinned. Another bell and the match ended. All I could do was sigh. -These fights are too easy. I need someone who can actually fight.-
Stretching my arms, I walked around the ring. My eyes looking for someone that posed a real challenge. It wasn't till the bell rang that I noticed someone had made the challenge. Caught off guard, I was quickly barreled into without mercy. I felt two ribs snap on impact, a bruise was already forming.
"Get that head in the game, whimp. Else I'll mop the floor with ya." I spat at his black boots and stood. A snarl was plastered on my lips as I kicked up, barely clipping his jaw. I finally had my challenge, but I needed to up my game. Dodging the black blade, I dove for his knees, aiming to knock him off balance. Instead, he swiped down and caught his knife over my shoulder. "Clumsy."
I felt my adrenaline pulse through my blood as I deftly back handed the man. It wasn't powerful or relatively strong, but it had the intended effect. The man lashed out blindly as I dodged his arm by a hair's breath now I had the opening I was aiming for. My left foot connected with the man's jaw, and the crowd could hear the sickening crack. A scream followed as he fell, dropping his dagger and holding the broken bone gingerly.
"Better up your game, else I'll break more than that mouth of yours." I growled, stepping over him with a yawn. Waving off the winnings, I wandered the streets to find the stores I needed. After that would be home. At this hour, the occupants would most likely be asleep. But, mother could , possibly, remember my existence for one minute
Heaving a sigh, I quickly finished my late night shopping before running to a public bath to clean up. Though I shouldn't have bothered as thunder rolled over me. The heavy sheets of rain soon followed in cold waves. I grumbled about ruined supplies again as I opened the door to my home.
Inside were several persons I didn't expect to see until club. "MINA!" They all shouted, watching my sodden self open the door. I was quickly tackled by four individuals. My brothers, Tamaki and Honey. "Guys, what are you doing?" I monotoned from the floor. "What do you mean?" Kaoru huffed. "Do you even know how long you were gone?" Hikaru finished, dragging the other two off of me. "It was only a few hours, besides, I'm fine." I muttered and stood. Worst mistake of the day.
My side flared with pain, causing me to wince. I had thought I hid the flash of pain rather well. But, the martial artists caught the look. "Mi-chan, are you hurt?" Honey asked as his larger companion stepped forward. I took a step back with a glare. "I told you, I'm fine. Just an old bruise or something." A convincing lie, but my worried brothers didn't buy it.
My doppelgangers stood on either side of me. Examined my appearance closely and found several cuts to my clothing. "Uh-huh, 'fine' is not a term to use after another one of your streetfights, Mina." Hikaru growled, taking a better look to the large wound on my shoulder. My brain paused, processing his words clearly. "You knew?"
Hikaru and Kaoru sighed together. "We were the ones that recieved all those hospital calls from your teachers." I thought things over, wondering how many calls they had received. Hospitals, doctors and stitches were a normal thing in America. But here? I made a point to take care of myself. Now that my brothers obviously knew about my habits, that was going to change.
"It may not be my place, but I believe Mina is in need of a doctor." Kyoya spoke up, clearing the tension I felt in the room. My brothers draped their arms around my waist and led me back out the door. "I can take care of myself. Anyway, I need a change of clothes...Are you two listening? Come on, let go!" I wriggled and squirmed to run to my room, but the doppelgangers were not budging.
"Haruhi can grab you some clothes, Tamaki can drive her to the hospital. But you..." Kaoru started, easily leading my struggling self outside. "Are coming with us to get stitched up. Now, enough fussing, you can't beat us with how much you're shivering." Hikaru finished.
It was true, I didn't even notice how cold I had gotten. I grumbled an unintelligible insult before climbing in the limo. My brothers and Kyoya followed in, leaving the rest to bring the necessities. "So, Haruhi is a girl?" I huffed, trying to one up my brothers for causing such a fuss. Both of which paled.
Kyoya chuckled with a dark smirk from across Kaoru. "Yes, due to a few instances, she is working for us. We would appreciate it if you wouldn't mind keeping her gender a secret." In the flashing streetlights, Kyoya almost reminded me of one mob boss I took down a few months ago. Not a pleasant memory seeing I received large bullet scar for my troubles.
"Sure, sure. Not like I talk to anyone at school anyway." I waved off, propping my arm on my knee. The boy grinned back at me and I huffed a sigh. These boys were nothing but trouble. Guess I'm a magnet for the stuff.
Eight measly stitches in my shoulder and four broken ribs. Clearly my brothers over reacted with this situation. I was ordered to stay in the hospital for observation overnight, which meant boredom for me. Kaoru and Hikaru had left to get drinks while the others were awkwardly seated around my room. I was sitting on the bed, moodily fiddling with my dog tags.
"Mi-chan, are you sure you don't want the medicine?" Honey asked sweetly, holding up the small cup full of painkillers. I shook my head to his question. "I don't do pills of any kind, thanks. Can't handle them like normal folks can." The boy placed the cup down and took a seat at the foot of the bed. "Okay, then what do you want to do, Mi-chan?"
I would have answered with a "Go home, duh." And a biting insult. But these were my brother's friends, not mine. If I knew one thing, it was not to hurt the friends of family. "Nothing, I guess. I can't leave this bed after all." I groaned instead. A few of the hosts cracked a smile before Kyoya handed me a notepad and pen. "In that case, you wouldn't mind answering a few questions for the hospital, would you?" His shadow King smile eased over his lips as I took a glance at the paper.
It held the usual questions and rating points as any other establishment. How was your visit? In a non-emergency, would you visit again? Blah blah blah. So, I was finished with the sheet rather quickly. "Okay, anything else I can do for you, Mr. Ootori?" I sighed, handing the pad back. "That is all, Ms. Hitachiin." Was Kyoya's reply.
Cue the double entrance of the Hitachiin boys. "We bought drinks from the vending machine down the hall!" The called, dumping a small pile in my lap. Hikaru grinned broadly at the stash. "We couldn't figure out which ones were good..." "So we decided to buy a little of everything!" I facepalmed at my brother's idiocy. About twenty cans of soda for eight people, it was going to be a sugar high for these boys.
