Sitting by the water, I enjoyed the sun. Everyone was on their own doing one thing or another. I just wanted the peace of the ocean and a nice tan. The sun was warm. The spray of the surf was cold and I was relaxed. This was by far the best suggestion my mother ever gave me.

“You look peaceful.” Came a voice from above just as a shadow block out my rays. “Haruhi, my tanning…” I muttered, pulling a face. “Kyoya and your brothers want you to come eat something. Something about skipping meals again.” The girl mentioned, taking a seat by my side. “Later, the sun is perfect right now.”

My sigh of contentment was enough to get a chuckle from Haruhi and settle the argument. That is, before Kaoru popped up. “Mina, come on. You haven't eaten all day!” He whined while tugging at my arm. My golden eye blazed at my brother and he backed up. “After my tan.” I growled, not in the mood to be towed around by my siblings and the host club.

Soon, my little space was packed and I crossed my arms over my bare stomach. “Bunch of little turds.” Was muttered under my breath before I sat up slowly. “Fine, let's go eat so I can get back to lazing on this beach.”

Kyoya held out his hand with a pleasant smile. “Then allow me to assist you.” I smirked slightly and took his hand, pulling myself up while holding back a grunt of pain. “Shall I carry you, or would you attempt the cruches in this sand?” The boy asked, already lifting me of the ground. “It doesn’t look like you're actually giving me a choice, Kyoya.” I growled. He simply chuckled while walking towards the resort.

Honey was prancing around the table while tossing his bunny, Usa-chan, and singing about shish kabobs. I was stretched out on the sofa while Haruhi dusted the sand from my wild hair. I kept my eye closed as my injured pulsed with a dull pain. It wasn’t sharp or excruciating. It was more like a dull headache that threatened to go into a migraine.

“FOOD IS READY!” Exclaimed an extravagant Tamaki while I just groaned. Haruhi helped me sit up and I finally opened my one good eye. My sight was slightly blurred for a moment before I shook off the tiredness. As everyone sat around the room and started eating, I yawned and looked at my plate. One kabob and a small bed of white rice.

I was glad they thought of my little “Doctor Diet” but I still didn’t feel like eating. With a small sigh, I nibbled at the peppers and tomatoes before giving up. Honestly, I wanted to eat. But feeling sick with just the smell made eating a bit hard. I leaned back with a pout. Food didn’t even taste good right now.

“Still can’t stomach anything?” Kaoru asked while sliding next to me on the sofa. “No.” I huffed. Hikaru leaned against my legs with an expression of worry. Everyone was worried, even I was. But, according to the good doctor, I should be able to eat as long as I ease myself into. Not like I can do anything else without puking.

I leaned on Kaoru and closed my eye once again. They knew how tired I was, but they were nice enough not to mention it. My lips curved into a small smirk. “Beach.” I muttered as I struggled to sit up. “Huh?” Both of my siblings and half the host club asked. “I wanna sit in the sand.” I continued as I finally sat upright and looked around the room. Haruhi and Kyoya both sighed in exasperation while the two blondes and two redheads started scampering about while giving reasons why I should stay put.

“Beach.” I nodded and used the arm of the sofa to help me stand. With the many stiff, sore and torn muscles, it proved to be difficult. Kyoya, being his rational self, stood and walked over to me. I stared up at him for a moment, thinking of what he was gonna do.

I didn’t have to wait long as he swiftly and easily picked me up and walked out of the room. “Beach?” It would seem that my brain was solely focused on that one point as Kyoya nodded with a huff. “You can be the most difficult patient, Mina.”

After walking away from the hut, Kyoya made his way down the docks and to the sandy beaches of Bora Bora. The tide was in and the sun was still out. I gave a grin and wiggled slightly as the raven haired boy set me in the sand. Instantly, I leaned back with a sight. My feet were barely touching the waves as they came in while my hair was dusted with white sand.

Kyoya went to leave, but I snagged his sandal. “Stay.” I grumbled while letting my muscles relax completely. He chuckled slightly and took a seat just above me. “I see you decided to show your stomach today.” Kyoya mentioned while pulling at a lock of my hair.

“Yeah. I was alone for the most part today and thought it would be nice to get a tan. Just been too lazy to cover up again.” I replied while running my hands over the coarse sand. Sleep was pulling at the back of my mind while Kyoya asked another question. I hummed in return but didn’t actually respond. He called my name a time or two before I gave up and entered my little dream world.

Kyoya watch Mina as she gradually fell asleep. She rarely let herself rest so easily after her coma, but it was getting easier for the girl. “Mina.” Kyoya called quietly as her breathing evened out. “You are just the kind of crazy my life needed.” He leaned down and kissed her hair before looking out over the water.

He could see why Mina enjoyed it so much. It was bright, warm and spacious. All the things she lacked for weeks while enduring all sorts of tortures. In all honesty, Kyoya didn’t know how Mina even managed from day to day. He knew she was struggling with her lack of muscle and constant fatigue. But she was constantly forcing herself to get stronger. To better herself from the day before.

Kyoya watched as Mina clenched her fists for the slightest moment. Another nightmare. Slowly, carefully, Kyoya pulled the girl into his arms and held her close. She was so small, so fragile. He wondered if she should be on a feeding tube just to adjust to proper food.

With a heavy sigh, Kyoya watched the waves swell and fall away with the tide.
