"Attention!" Erwin boomed.
All of the cadets saluted. "SIR!"
"At ease." Erwin looked around. "Have the captains in question showed up yet?"
Levi glared murderously at his superior, who he was standing right next to. "I'm right here, Erwin."
Erwin just laughed. "Sorry, I didn't see you there because you're so..."
Levi's glare grew more intense.
Erwin hesitated a long moment, weighing the pros and cons of his words, and simply smiled nervously. "And Captain Takada?"
Hiiro approached the officers through a path in the trees. "Sorry. I was...detained for a bit."
Levi shot Hiiro a questioning glance, but the younger captain ignored it, giving Levi an innocent half-smile in return.
Levi, in return, narrowed his eyes. We'll talk about this later.
Erwin just smiled, looking relieved that both captains had opted to show up. "Good. Now will the two of you please gather in the center of the clearing? Cadets, please move to the outside edges, away from the combat zone."
Levi took up position in the center, and Hiiro joined him, ignoring Levi's look and staring calmly at Erwin with an even glance.
Meanwhile, the cadets began whispering and placing bets.
Suddenly, Hanji popped up out of nowhere. "Erwin!!"
"Um, y-yes, Hanji?" he said, visibly creeped out by her presence.
"They should be shirtless!!"
"Um, Hanji, why-"
"To make it more realistic!!"
"What the-"
Yuki, having overheard, glared at Hanji, who just laughed hysterically.
"Fine, fine...But I want to at least see Hiiro's arm! I made him a special one-sleeve uniform just for this purpose!!"
Erwin just shook his head, annoyed. "Hanji, go cut something up..."
"Yeah?" Hanji argued back defensively. "Well what if Hiiro has something hidden in his arm, like an extra weapon? This is a security measure! Security!"
"This isn't security so much as selective stalking..." he muttered. "Fine. There's been a request for Captain Takada to remove his cape so his - um - enhancement is clearly visible to prevent any subterfuge during the match."
Hiiro furrowed his brow slightly, but with a nod from Erwin, he reluctantly removed his cape revealing his mechanical arm.
"Damn Hanji. He is sexy..." Yuki muttered while the other cadets whispered in surprise.
"Wait, is he that guy?" Jean suddenly asked.
"What guy?" Eren said.
"You know that guy..."
"Which one?"
"No one."
"Okay..."
Yuki was eavesdropping again, as usual. "Huh? Who, Horseface?"
Erwin, meanwhile, was rather miffed. "Any last requests? Anything from the participants?"
Levi glared, and Hiiro shook his head.
"I don't know, some guy..." Jean replied.
"On 0, then. 10, 9, 8..." Erwin began, and the other cadets joined in, Jean quickly forgetting about his brief quasi-epiphany.
