Camp life continued on fairly normally, for the most part. The cadets trained for hours every day, stopping to eat and sleep, but with few other exceptions. Not much broke up the monotony of training, and many cadets began to wonder when they'd ever actually see action.

That was when it happened, just as everyone was beginning to grow complacent.

Eren was in a clearing by himself, practicing.

Hiiro came by. "Cadet Jaeger."

Eren saluted, scowling.

Hiiro just sighed. "At ease. I noticed you were practicing...would you like help?"

"No! I can do it myself!" Eren snapped, trying again and accidentally landing in a weird position. As he leaned forward, his mouth open in readiness to shout, he accidentally bit down on the hand splayed in front of him for balance.

The change was immediate. Where Eren Jaeger had stood one second ago now loomed a titan.

Hiiro hesitated but quickly understood. Eren was a shifter.

He moved into a ready position. If Eren made it to an open area of camp, everyone would find out. Eren might even be killed for it. His only chance to protect Eren was by stopping him here.

That didn't work out, unfortunately. It turned out to be a lot more difficult to stop a titan than it was to kill one, and Eren quickly passed Hiiro and headed straight for the mess hall.

Hiiro followed at a close distance, trying to herd Eren away from the more populated areas, but when he realized that it was pointless, he came up with a new plan.

Twenty minutes later, Erwin was yelling for the cadets to be silent. Still, cadets yelled out what they'd witnessed.

"A titan! In camp!"

"15 meters, at least!"

"It was a shifter!" someone called out. "How else could he have gotten in to the middle of camp without anyone else noticing?"

Erwin stared evenly out at the disturbed cadets. "Does anyone know the identity of the shifter?"

From the edge of the circle, Hiiro walked forward, having shielded Eren, who was currently hiding behind a large oak tree. "It was me."

Erwin's face remained blank. "You are stating that you are the titan shifter, Captain Takada."

"Yes sir."

Now the cadets were silent.

"You realize that this is a serious accusation, correct, Captain Takada?"

"Yes sir."

"And you hold true to your previous concession of guilt?"

"I do, sir."

Erwin was quiet. He understood what Hiiro was doing; he would have a revolt on his hands if Eren's identity were made publicly known. Still, he had to enforce rules, even if he had to sacrifice a commanding officer to do so.

"As of right now, Captain Takada will be taken into custody and considered under the allegation of treason and conspiracy."

Several sets of soldiers came and led Hiiro away, leaving Eren crouching guiltily behind a tree and a swarm of cadets confused and already spreading the news.

Levi didn't hear until several hours later, but by then, the Scout Regiment was already trying Hiiro's case.

"Attention!" Erwin commanded as he entered the room.
