Uh oh!

I don't know about you

But I'm feeling 22

Everything will be alright

If you keep me next to y-

Yeah I have a Taylor Swift ringtone, judge me, it’s not going to change my ringtone. I cut off the ringtone when I saw that it was Jennifer, once again. Third time today actually.

Uh oh!

I don't know about you

But I'm feeling 22

Everything will be alright

If you keep me next to you

You don't know about me

But I'll bet you want to

Everything will be alright

If we just keep dancing like we're

22, ooh-ooh

22, ooh-ooh

I just let it play all the way through this time, it was her decision to mess up everything. Correction, end everything.

~Flashback~

“Paisley at this point I think it would be a lot easier if we just weren’t friends anymore.” She looked up from her hands that were wrapped around a water bottle full of something that clearly wasn’t water.

She continued, “it’s not like I don’t want you around but we can’t stay at each other’s throats all the time. We’re humans not animals, so I’m cutting ties here. This won’t be the last time we see each other but it is the last time we are going to be considered friends. We are not enemies, we just simply will be strangers again.” It wasn’t a shock but it was going to take some getting used to.

~Flashback over~

She left a voicemail this time. So I listened to it.

“Paisley, I know you don’t want to see me or even speak to me but I think we need to talk. No this doesn’t change anything, between us anyway, but you might want to know.” Yeah I wanted to know like I wanted to work at Rue21. I don’t wanna work there at all. I’ll work at Victoria’s Secret first so I can secretly judge people’s sex lives. Yes it’s wrong to judge people but we all do it.

In a way I wanted to talk to her but I didn’t. Does that make sense?

You know what it won’t hurt for me to talk to her, It’s not changing anything, like she said, but what would it change if it’s not us.

….

“Jennifer what is it, make it quick.”

She sighed, “I can’t tell you over the phone. I mean I can but it’s, it’s more of an in person thing.”

I sighed because I knew that it was something serious, “okay where are you?”

“I’m in the car behind you.”

What..

How creepy and stalkerish. I mean damn why not watch me while I sleep too. I looked in the rearview mirror when I got to a stop sign and sure enough she was back there. Creeper.

When I got to where I- we could pull over so we could talk I hopped out.

“Why were you following me?” Was the first thing I asked.

“I wasn’t following you. Not purposely.” She put her hands on her tiny hips.

“Anyway what do you have to tell me that’s so important.”

She stood there shuffling her feet, the way she used to when she was nervous. I knew by this that whatever she was going to eventually say, I needed to listen to it and listen good. No matter how much I didn’t want to, I had to.

She sighed, “Paisley I’m not exactly sure where to start.” She was now shuffling and fidgeting with her fingers. “Ai-Aiden ch-cheated on you.”

I crossed my arms, furrowed my eyebrows, and turned my head to the side, “what?” “How?”

She took a deep breath and let it out, “you mean how do I know?”

Just standing there, not exactly sure what to say, I couldn’t tell if she was lying or not. “Yeah, that’s what I mean.” Not exactly sure where this was going, or whether or not I should believe her. I know I’ve caught her in quite a few lies, especially after her boyfriend moved and had to dump her.

“I know because, it was-” She stopped, “it was with me.”

Now I was confused.

“What? I’m sorry I’m so lost.”

“I know Paisley but I’m not done. He said-”, she leaned against her car, “he lied.”

Trying to make sense of this, “Lied about what?”

She looked me dead in the eyes, her brown ones just pierced through my blue ones. She said just one word and that’s when it all made sense. “You.”

That’s when it hit me. “Let me get this straight because I think it’s all making sense now. So he told you we weren’t together, right? Then you decided since we aren’t friends anymore that it would be okay. So basically y’all did whatever and you’re both guilty. He lied and you believed it. Which don’t get me wrong he’s pretty trustworthy, but why. That’s what I’m not getting.”
