Still breathing

We cuffed Max and took him back to the prison, we confiscated his wingpack and sword. I went back to my room and laid on the bed, sighing I just sat there. "Roomie, you gonna be ok, don't kill yourself, that'd suck if you did that after all the changes you've made and caused."
"I'm not going to kill my self Ruby, I'm just tired, I'm just happy I'm still breathing." I sat up and made a small ball of electric energy in my hand. "Why can't things go right, we need a break and we're losing more people by the day. I'm glad we have max back but Hanson will just make things worse, vampires, zombies, mercenaries, rival epics, what's next!?" Ruby took a seat next to me, then abruptly slapped me. "Get it together!" She said as she shook me, her Spanish accent showing slightly. "You're the guy that we look up to, you're the guy who gets shit done, so let's get shit done! I know you've had problems in the past but, I find you just need a good person to talk to, and to shut down emotion, you're not Chase Hanson, you're Ion." With those words I got up and went out into the yard where Max was . I took a seat next to him. "Hello chase, it's good to see you're still alive, thanks for saving me."
"Don't mention it, I trust you a lot and I hope you come back into my team."
" I accept your invitation." He said with a laugh, "I suggest we go out on the town, maybe we can bring some food back for the others."
"Sounds good to me."

I got out of my room wearing my civilian attire, tennis shoes, jeans and t-shirt with a light jacket, and sunglasses.  Max had slacks and a black t-shirt. Magnus came with us, he always where's a suit. We were walking down Main Street going to a nice restaurant for take out, "day of the dead? Chase, why this place?"
"It's odd and I love their seafood and noodles." We walked into the restaurant and were met by large bags of food and we carried them down the street and back to our base. We assembled everyone at a large table and passed out plates and food " who asked for the soup? We have the noodles and sushi, we also have crab cakes and just about anything else you could want!" That was one of the first times I felt family, Ruby, Max, Hagan, Anna, Magnus, Katherine, Shay, they're all family now, and I love them like that. Sadly, I was caught off guard in my sappy moment. A black spear flew through the wall of our fort and we all looked up. Standing there was a young man, no more than 27. "I am Dante Rowe, but they call me invincible. I am here to challenge your protector, Ion." Invincible said with a sneer. Anna shot up and bombarded the intruder with gallons of water as I went to put on my battle outfit. Two minutes later I come out to see max wrestling with this guy and everyone is shouting and things are blowing up. From what I can tell he can control tendrils of shadow, that's what everyone else is fighting, I put on my gauntlet and goggles . That's when I got a good look at him, black hair, light armor, large sword on his back, two guns at his side and he's wearing two gauntlets similar to mine. "So the man of the hour has arrived! I thought you were just a myth! Letting your lackeys do all the work."
"No one on my team is a lackey, we all have our jobs, were equals, and soon you'll be in an equal number of pieces!" Black tendrils wrapped around max and he disappeared in a base of shadows, then appeared behind me swinging his sword, a large claymore. I blocked with a shield and pushed him back. He swung again and I caught his sword. He looked a little shocked and I threw him into the sky and changed the gravity of the sword, he fell straight to earth.

He landed with a thud and got up, he tried remove the sword from the ground. He gave up eventually and pulled out his pistols, the shot at me but I blocked them with my shield constructs. Max eventually picked up invincible and help his hands back. "You won't hurt anyone else." He stripped invincible of his weapons and we threw him into a cell. "Thanks for saving my life man, I owe you."
"You don't owe me, it's what bros do." We cleaned up the field and went back to our respective rooms. I put all my gear up in the closet and got into my night clothes. I was laying in bed when the door opened and Ruby walked. "Is there any room in there for me?" I nodded and she climbed in next to me. We snuggled up and started falling asleep.
