A/N: Here is the prologue to Perfect Darkness! Feedback would be great! We (as in the co-owner of this story and I) would love to know what you guys think of the story! Is it good or bad so far? Let us know!

Prologue

My eyes slowly fluttered open as I took in my surrounding. All I could see where trees. How did I end up in the woods if I was just in my warm, cozy bed? Did I sleep walk? I had so many questions that were left unanswered all because I was in the middle of the forest. And from what I remember, I lived no where near the woods, so how the hell did I end up in one?

My thoughts were put to a stop at the sound of a twig snapping. "H-hello? Is anyone there?" I stuttered slightly, hoping that it was, indeed, a person and not some animal hunting for their breakfast.

What happened next left me with my mouth dropping to the floor. As if it was answering to my call earlier, a giant wolf stepped out in plain view. The wolf's fur was black and white with beautiful brown eyes. In other words: the wolf was gorgeous. That didn't mean I wasn't scared shitless, though.

Then the wolf started walking closer towards me and I - out of instinct - started backing up. What? I didn't know what it would do! For all I knew it could be looking for breakfast!

"I'm not going to hurt you," a male's voice said quietly. I took a look around my surroundings but I didn't see anyone. Was that the wolf talking? "Yes, the wolf is talking," the wolf replied sarcastically.

"Well, how do I know that? Hmm?" I asked sassily while crossing my arms across my chest.

"Well, I guess your just going to have to trust me then, won't you?"

"I guess so."

For me, it was weird talking to the wolf. It didn't even move its mouth to speak! It was all coming from its mind! What was that called again? Oh yeah! Telepathic! Did that mean the wolf was telepathic?

Next thing I knew, the wolf was behind me, nudging me forward before trotting ahead of me. Did it want me to follow it? Only one way to find out. Slowly and hesitantly, I followed the black and white wolf further into the woods until we were in the middle of a meadow.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked, amazed by the sight.

"Because I need to tell you something," he chuckled into my head.

Then everything started to get blurry. Was this a dream? Wait! The wolf!

"Looks like we're running out of time," the wolf sighed.

"But you still have time to tell me, right?" I asked, really curious on what it wanted to tell me.

"Afraid not my beautiful mate. Right now, it's time for you to wake up."

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

I groaned loudly as I slid to the off button for the alarm I had set onto my iPhone. Today was moving day for my dad and I and (to be quite honest) I absolutely hated it! I didn't like the fact that my parents were in the middle of a divorce, but - then again - who did?

"Amanda? Are you awake?" my dad called out through the door.

"Yeah dad!" I replied back with a sigh before getting up to start getting ready. We were suppose to be leaving in an hour anyway.

"Okay! Just making sure sweetie!" was the last thing he said to me before retreating down to his old bedroom to gather his stuff and (from what I assume) to load it into his truck.

I rolled out of bed to get started with my day. I still had to take a shower and get my stuff loaded into the truck. All we had left to do at the new house was our bedrooms anyway. My dad (with my help) had already bought our furniture and utensils for the house. That's what we spent the past week doing: setting up the house. Now, we just have to actually move in. Sounds fun right?

As much as I didn't like my mom at the moment, I didn't want to leave my childhood home. It was the place where I grew up and most of the memories I cherish are in this house. I couldn't just leave without saying goodbye.

"You ready kiddo?" my dad asked me an hour later.

"As ready as I'll ever be," I sighed sadly as I turned my head to look out the window.

"Look, Amanda, I know you're going through a tough time right now with your mother and I divorcing, but it's for the best, you know? You'll still get to see her! Just not as much as you used to.."

"Dad, I'm not upset that you guys are divorcing! I mean, I am a little but I could see it from a mile away that it was going to happen eventually. I'm upset because I'm basically leaving my childhood home and all my friends behind! I'll be at a totally different school on the other side of town! That means I won't be able to see them as much as I used to!"

My dad had no words to say so that was the last thing that was said for the whole ride to our new house. To be quite honest, I'm glad I got that off my chest. I was going to blow eventually so why not let it out now?

"We're here," my dad said about twenty minutes later, bringing me back down to earth and away from my thoughts.

Although we have been to the house a few times, I haven't gotten a good look at it until now. It was the perfect size for just the two of us. From what I knew, it was two stories and it had the woods in the back of the house, which I really didn't mind. It would give me a place to run off to when I wanted to get away for a little while. Maybe moving wasn't so bad after all.

"Home sweet home," I whispered before getting out of the car and getting my suitcases out of the back to start unpacking.

By the time I dragged my last suitcase all the way upstairs, I was worn out and decided to open the window to get some fresh air into my new room along with putting my iPhone onto the iHome to keep me motivated. Nothing can keep a person more motivated than music, right?

"I'm sorry if I say I need ya, but I don't care cause I'm not scared of lo-o-o-ove! When I'm not with you, I'm weaker! Is that so wrong, is it so wrong that you make me strong?" I sang along to the final chorus to Strong by One Direction as I finally finished unpacking all of my things an hour and a half later. I turned off the music and went to go shut the window when something at the edge of the woods caught my eye. It took me a second to realize that it was a wolf, but it took me to look at its eyes to realize that it wasn't just any wolf: it was the wolf from my dreams.
