A/N: Here it is! Another chapter! This was written by Chrystal (aka polaroidxirwin on Tumblr. Sadly, as much fun as we had writing this story it has to come to an end some time so we're only doing a few more chapters after this one plus an epilogue. Don't worry, though! We have another story up our sleeves coming soon. Anyways, as usual, enjoy the chapter! :)
Chapter 16: What Happened?
I’m not sure what death would ever feel like, but if I had to guess, this was it. I felt limp and my energy was drained completely. Opening my eyes was almost impossible but I was awake and I could hear everything around me.
“How is she?” I heard what sounded like Michael ask.
“Better. Much better, it’s just she’s not waking up and it’s scaring me.” The voice that I knew as Calum's responded.
“She’ll be fine, Cal. I promise she will.”
Calum sighed deeply and held my hand tightly in his. I mustered as much strength as I could and squeezed his hand in return. I heard Calum gasp as he exclaimed I’m awake.
“Can you hear me, baby?” I moved my lips but nothing came out, so I nodded slightly.
“Can you try opening your eyes?” I used all of my energy and strength and cracked my eyes slightly. It wasn’t much, but I could see Calum’s face which had worry written all over it. He let out a breath of happiness before leaving a sweet kiss on my forehead.
“You’ve been out for three days now. I was getting worried.” Three days?! Instantly many many questions rushed into my head.
Who won the battle?
How are the rest of the family?
Why have been out for three whole days?
“Can you sit?”
“No.” It was simple but it made my throat burn like hell.
I don’t know what JJ did to me, I have very little memory of it, but whatever it was it weakened me beyond believe.

I slowly slid out of bed and walked painfully down the stairs. It’s been about a week since I woke up. Calum had told my dad that I fell and hit my head, which my dad believed. I shuffled into the kitchen where my dad and Calum where laughing over something.
“Hey sweetie!” My dad said, still chuckling. He walked over and gave me a kiss on the forehead. I mumbled a small “morning” to both of them before I opened the fridge and getting out the milk carton.
“How are you feeling?” My dad asked again.
“Weak.” I replied honestly. I grabbed a cup and poured some milk, then put the carton in the fridge again. I walked into Calum’s arm for a morning hug, giving him a sweet and short kiss on the lips before starting my breakfast.
“Well, it’s time for me to go. Thank you again Calum for watching for her.” My dad gave me a hug and a small nod to Cal before leaving.
“How are you actually feeling?”
“Weak and like shit. I can’t remember anything at all.”
“Do you want me to tell you?” I nodded quickly.
I sat on the counter as Calum told me everything. Everything from JJ putting me on a chokehold to Calum nearly running her out of town.
“She could’ve killed you. Remember how I told you a scratch for me is like a gush for you?” I nodded and finished off my milk. “Okay, well the chokehold she had on you had so much force that it was cutting off your breath, and basically the amount of air that you loss, it was enough to kill you.” Calum’s eyes became glossy with tears, like the thought of me dying killed him.
“Hey, come here.” I whispered sweetly, opening my legs slightly so he could stand in between them, which he did, his hands resting on my thighs.
“I’m fine, see?” I put my hands up as if flexing to show my muscles. Calum chuckled slightly and looked down. I lifted his head by the chin and pressed my lips softly to his. “I’ll be sticking around for a while, I promise.”
