Charater: Hoshigaki Kisame

OC: Tempura Nanami

My name is irrelevant

It was a chilly day of autumn and Kisame and Itachi were out on patrol. The air smelled like wet grass and the dirt was soaked with the rain of the previous night. It was quiet, even the birds seemed quieter than normal.

-Hey, Itachi, if we encounter someone, may I deal with them my way?

            -No, Kisame, replied Itachi enenly.

Kisame pouted, obviously disliking the restrictions his partner sat. But he didn't insist. He knew it would've been of no use.

So they kept walking in silence, scanning the areas around them.

Suddenly, a flock of birds arose from an area not too far from them. They chirped as loud as they could and bat their wings desperately.

            -Let's go, said Kisame smirking.

Itachi didn't reply but headed his steps towards the commotion.

Arrived at the area, they stopped and listened. It was now quiet. They kept moving, staying alert.

A while later, they spotted a camp fire not too far from them and went to check it out.

As they got closer, they saw a girl roasting some meat above the fire and the corpse of her prey, a wild pig. That girl was you.

Even though you saw them, you didn't move and kept eating and roasting as calm and quiet as you were before. But you were eying them with stern and cold eyes.

They stopped and looked at you trying to figure out wether they should deal with you or leave you be. Kisame smirked widely and was already picturing a bloody and gory fight.

            -Itachi? He asked.

But Itachi ignored him and spoke to you.

-Who are you? Why are you here?

-As you can see, you replied, I was making lunch. And dinner. As for my name, it is of no relevance.

-Where are you from? Asked Kisame.

            -Hidden Mist Village.

-And are you familiar with the 7 Swordsmen of the Mist? He asked grinning widely again.

-Yes, I am, and I take it that you are the Monster of the Mist, Hoshigaki Kisame.

            Kisame just nodded, pleasantly surprised.

-If you're looking for a fight, you got it. Some training with a real person would do me well, you said, standing up and dusting your pants.

You stood up and took out, to Kisame's utter shock, Ameyuri Ringo's Kiba.

-How did you get hold of those? He asked, not believing what he saw.

-Raiga-sama died a while back and left the Kiba on the edge of a river. I, as their apprentice, saw fit to take them. Now, are we going to fight or not?

-We are not here to fight, interfered Itachi.

            -Fine then.

-But you're coming with us, he added evenly and surely.

-Oh, Hell I'm not! You shouted, getting in a defensive stance.

You didn't want to go. You were free and didn't want to give that up.

You and Itachi stared at each other cold and hard.

-We'll make you a deal, said Itachi evenly. You will fight Kisame. And if he wins, you come with us. If he loses, we shall bother you no longer.

You took a second to think about it. You rubbed your chin, not taking your eyes off the 2 strangers.

            -Deal, you finally replied.

            -Good. Because I wasn't asking.

And with this, Itachi stepped to the side, giving you space.

You scoffed but had no choice but to fight, as Kisame was already charging a full blow towards you. You rolled out of the way and took the chance of attacking Kisame while he was raising his Samehada again.

The battle went pretty much like that, the two of you seeming equal in power. Until...

-God damn! You cursed as you lost one of the Kiba out of your grasp.

And while you rushed to get it, you were knocked out by the Samehada's handle. Your eyes closed slowly as your mind was being flooded by darkness and the last thing you knew was you cursing yourself for your incompetence.

Tempura is a Japanese dish of sea food or vegetables that have been battered and deep fried. The tradition requieres that the Swordsmen take their last name from some sort of Japanese dish.
