Yes, I jumped. And what a feeling it was, let me tell you. I landed knee-down first on the glass shards and I felt pain for the first time. It dug into me and I watched as blood poured out. I was confused about what it was, considering it was new to me. My vision was getting blurry from the loss of it, and I was getting dizzy. Before I blacked out, Jordan ran toward me looking terrified and carefully picked me out of the glass. I was shaky and all I could do was stare into his soft, brown eyes. He seemed scared at first from my eyes, then got used to it and smiled. Then I passed out.
There was a beeping noise that woke me up. It took a lot of strength just to open my eyes. And when I finally did, I was staring at a white-tiled ceiling. I turned my head, which hurt a lot. Jordan was sitting there with his hands on his lap, smiling. I worked up the energy to smile back. Then Jordan realized I was awake.
"Doctor! She's up!" Jordan yelled. I looked at him like he was crazy. We were the only two in the room; who could he be calling?
A bunch of white suited people with blue mouth masks came in. They held needles and metal objects and other things that scared me to death. Would they inject me with them?
"Hi, sweetheart," a man said. I looked at him.
"W-who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Doctor DiCaprio. Do you know why you're here?" the doctor man asked. I shook my head, and the doctor laughed. "You jumped out a window, as your friend says, and landed on a bunch of glass which caused you to fall unconscious. But you'll be fine; while you were asleep we took out all the glass. But you've got some pretty bad cuts and we want you to stay in a wheelchair for a month or so."
I felt so confused. What was a wheelchair? I wanted to ask, but everyone seemed to know what it was so I stayed quiet.
Jordan got up. "Lyra, that was crazy. You could have just unlocked the door." He chuckled. So cute...ah! Shut up, brain! I thought.
"I couldn't, the door was bolted on the inside. Only my parents can unlock it," I explained.
"Oh. Well, we could have waited, but it's over. Let's get you in that wheelchair. I'll drive you to my place, or if you want to go home then yours," Jordan said.
"Your place. My parents will kill me when they see what I did to the house," I replied. Jordan smiled and lifted me out of the bed. He carried me to a folded chair with wheels on it and the doctor unfolded it. Then Jordan set me in it. I adjusted myself into the wheelchair and looked at Jordan. He looked back at me and smiled. "Is that okay?" he asked. I nodded.
Ten Minutes Later
Jordan took me out to his car. He helped me out of the wheelchair and put me in one of the seats. Then he closed the door and went to the trunk thing to put the wheelchair away.
I looked at the weird leather or whatever it was strap next to me. What was it for? Jordan opened the door next to me and slid in. He took his leather strap and pulled it over himself, putting the metal part in the red and gray thing. I copied his movement and put my strap in. It took a few tries, but I got it.
Jordan was watching me the whole time. "Have you actually ever been in a car before?" he asked. I nodded sheepishly. Jordan chuckled. "Well, just sit tight. It's not a long drive from here to my condo."
Jordan clicked a button near our seats. It started playing Counting Stars by One Republic, and I listened to that song ALL THE TIME. I felt compelled to start singing along with it, but I was with someone and it would be weird. Then I turned and looked at Jordan. He was humming to the tune, and then I saw his lips start mouthing it. It turned into a whisper of it. And I started singing.
