Hey guys, thanks so much for reading the first part of values and for leaving comments. God bless. In my opinion, values are beliefs I have about what is right and wrong, that controls both my actions and my speech – by Korshman
Values cannot be set aside but can be changed or improved upon exposure – by Magnificentdiamond. God bless you guys.
I said I was going to complete my story this week. There actually isn’t much to say, I know you’d be wondering what I finally told my friend. But guess what happened; when I finished writing the first part of values I had to send the link to some of my whatsapp contacts. I was just marking names to send the link to, which I did successfully. But after I finished, relieved that I had sent the link, I then realized that I had sent the link to this friend I was telling you about. Yea, I know silly mistake; but my friend was fine with it, he even loved the article and wanted to read others. Well I was surprised but thankful that he wasn’t offended.
We said last week that values refer to one’s morals, morality, or belief system; that which is highly esteemed. Values are those things that you do or do not, without having to explain to others. You get very uncomfortable if you try to ignore or go against your values. You can’t explain most of them, they are just values.
How do we get values? Values can be gotten in several ways; we get values from society, from parents, siblings and books we read. We get values from ourselves; yes, we are all created differently and our mindset are also different that is why there are some certain things you cannot do even though those things are not wrong or bad things. We also get values from our faith in God. Our faith in God helps us set our priorities right, it helps us identify our values in God and live by them.
Why are values important? Jesus had values; which is why he could leave the comfort of heaven and walk into an atmosphere that was unholy and imperfect. He walked into the lives of those He valued, into the lives of those He saw as His priority. Therefore values form the foundation of your life. It tells you what you cannot do and what you can do. Values help us set our priorities right, that is why even the job or career you pursue should align with your values if not you will not be satisfied and committed to it.
Some people or situations happen in life just to test you to see if you can stand by the values you profess. It could be a second job that gives you so much additional money but takes away your God-time. I don’t like to remove God from anything because He is the source of any realistic thinking, but I just want to say this, even if you do not have the governance of God over your life, your values make you who you are, and they make you different from every other person. They make you unique and single (separated and whole). It is necessary that you identify and acknowledge your values in life.
Now as our friend Magnificentdiamond rightly said, values cannot be set aside but can be changed or improved upon exposure. As you go on in life, you learn and experience new things; therefore our values should be improved on. This signifies growth and maturity.
A man who knows who he is, how he functions, where he is, what he is supposed to do, how to improve his environment, and how to protect his environment. On top of all that he knows the direct Word of God for his life. By measure, this is the definition of a whole, fulfilled, well-balanced and well-adjusted individual - Myles Munroe.
In summary, our values as Christians should be bible based and we should understand the principles under which the kingdom of God operates and know what God expects from us.
I love you guys. Please leave comments. God bless.
