Louis's POV:

I crouched down next to Kayli as she sobbed. As I put my hand on her back, she slowly looked up at me. She looked surprised that it was me and turned away, wiping tears from her face.

"You don't have to come feel sorry for me." Kayli whispered angrily.

Why was she acting like this? She was sobbing and crying a second ago and now she's mad.

"What's wrong Kayli?" I asked her.

"Just my life falling apart at the seams. But it doesn't matter. Now go away Lou."

"I'm not going anywhere. Now talk to me. Please." I begged.

She eventually peeked at me, her eyes puffy and sad. It broke my heart to see her like this. Holding my arms out, I pulled her into a hug. Kayli tensed up at first, but eventually relaxed.

"Tell me what's wrong." I whispered in her ear.

She took a deep breath and began telling me. She told me about what her mom said about college, and that she was scared. It seemed like she was about to say more, but stopped herself.

"Is there something else?" I asked.

She hesitated. "Yes. But I don't know if I can tell you."

"Kayli, you can tell me anything."

I looked down at her in my arms, and the look on her face told me she was nervous, trembling even.

"Kayli?"

She sighed and let everything out in one breath. "I like you, okay?! I like you a lot. And my mom won't let us be together, I mean if you even like me back, which you probably don't anyway. But I don't know what to do anymore! I might act like everything is okay and nothing hurts me, but I've kept my emotions bottled up too long and I feel like I'm about to explode! My mom never listens when I try to tell her what I think, so I learned to keep it locked away, but I can't do it anymore. I just can't do it."

I couldn't take it anymore. Tears were coming out of my eyes as she kept talking. It broke my heart to hear her like this. I just wanted to kiss her, make her pain go away. And that's what I did. I kissed her, through her tears, through my tears. It was amazing. Wrapping my arms around her tighter, I broke away from the kiss. We just sat there on the floor and I held her.

"I'm sorry if I messed up your night. If this was just a pity thing, I understand." Kayli sighed, trying to pull away from me.

"No. I like you too Kayli, and I don't care what your mom says. I'm not letting you go." I said sternly.

She relaxed back into my arms, and I whispered soothing things into her ear. But I had one question to ask.

"How did you get here, Kayli?" I asked, pulling back a bit to see her face.

"I um, I ran here." She looked down guiltily.

"What?! That's like 4 miles!"

"Yeah I know. But I couldn't take my car, because she would know that I had left if I did. And I just couldn't stay there any longer."

"Oh Kayli. I'm so sorry you had to go through that." I sighed.

"It's okay. I'm used to it." She said, barely above a whisper.

"No it's not okay. And I'm gonna make sure you are treated how you should be treated." I said, standing up and picking her up in the process.

"Lou, what are you doing?"

"You are gonna stay here with me tonight." I smiled.

I walked to the living room and sat her down on the couch. Niall and Carrie were cuddled up on the other couch and looking at me curiously. I walked to the closet that Carrie keeps extra blankets and pillows and grabbed one of each. I sat them on the end of the couch.

"Carrie, can I talk to you for a sec?" I asked her.

"Yeah sure." She said, untangling herself from Niall.

I walked to the kitchen with her following behind me.

"What is it, Lou?" She asked once we got in there.

"Well, Kayli just told me she ran here.! Isn't that like 4 miles?"

"Yeah. Why I earth would she run here?! She's got a car." Carrie said, confused.

"Well she didn't want her mom to know. Is it okay if she stays here? With me?"

"Of course! She is always welcome to stay here. She knows that." Carrie said with obviousness in her voice.

"I know, but I mean.. With me. Like on the couch." I whispered awkwardly.

"Ooh. I see, Lou. Yeah, that's okay." She chuckled, raising her eyebrows.

I was somewhat embarrassed to ask her that, but I'm glad she said yes. I wanted to stay with Kayli tonight, especially after what just happened.

I followed Carrie back out of the kitchen, and sat on the couch Niall was sitting on. Carrie grabbed Kayli's hand and led her upstairs, I guess to get her some pajamas to wear.

"So, Lou. You never told me you liked Kayli. Does she like you back?" Niall asked, smirking.

"She just told me she did, and I'm so glad too, mate. It killed me to see her so broken. And I'm going to make sure it never happens again." I smiled.

"Well good, Lou. I think she needs someone right now. She needs you." He patted me on the back.

A few minutes later Carrie and Kayli came back downstairs. Kayli was in a pair of dark purple pajama pants and a white tank top. Her face was clean and free of makeup, which I haven't seen since I met her. No makeup looked good on her though. Her hair was up in a messy bun, and she looked super exhausted.

Carrie had changed into some dark blue pajama pants and a black tank top, too.

Kayli went to the couch she was siting on earlier, and plopped down.

Carrie walked gracefully to Niall and grabbed his hand.

"Come on Niall. Let's go to bed. I'm tired." She chuckled.

"I'll carry you, fine maiden!" He joked hopping up and picking her up bridal style.

"Goodnight guys!" Carrie laughed as Niall ran up the stairs with her in his arms.

I chuckled and got up myself. I walked over to Kayli and handed her the pillow. She smiled and put it under her head, laying back. I grabbed the blanket and covered her up. I smiled and kissed her forehead, before walking to the other couch to lay down.

"You don't have to sleep over there. I mean uh, you can sleep with me on this couch. If you want.." She said with nervousness.

"Are you sure?"

Kayli nodded. I went back over to her as she lifted up the covers, motioning for me to get under them. I'm glad the couch was somewhat wide, so we could both fit on it easily. I slid down next to her and faced her. Our noses were touching and my stomach was doing flips. This girl was amazing. I just wanted to stay with her forever. Kayli tucked her head into my shoulder, and I wrapped my arms around her once again. Kissing the top of her head, I closed my eyes and smiled.

"Goodnight, Kayli."

"Goodnight, Lou."
