Is this a dream?

Chapter 8

I wake up in my bed to the sound of Jared yelling downstairs so I hurry up and take a shower and put on some clothes and after I'm done he's still down stares either yelling at himself or someone else. So I walk downstairs and I hear that he's in the kitchen.

"Jared is everything okay?"

"Yea I just was on the phone with my step sister 🙄"

"Oh I didn't know you had a sister?"

"Yea she's the lady that needed "help"."

"She's the one who changed you ?!?"

"Yea and she wants to come over tomorrow but I have to go back to work and she hates humans so it wouldn't be a very smart idea to have her come here now."

"Oh that's too bad it would've been nice to have some girl company."

"I bet. She sometimes can be nice to humans. She has this power where she can judge people's character by looking at them and most humans she looks at are all full of hatred so she ends up hating them as well."

"Wow that's neat actually. What's her name by the way?"

"Her name is Lucy."

"That's a pretty name."

"I suppose ," he laughs.

"Can I meet her??"

"I don't think that's a good idea and plus I've grown to not like her after what she did to me. She became my step sister after her mom married my dad. Her mom was a human and so was my dad,and the couple weeks I went on a killing spree my dad thought I was out with some friends because that's what I told him. After I got myself controlled I came back to see that both my dad and her mom were dead and she was the one who got rid of them."

"That's horrible I'm so sorry."

"It's okay it was a long time ago."

"I really would like to meet her though maybe you could just let her over tomorrow when you go to work?"

"Brooke are you stupid if I'm not around she'll hurt you and I'm not letting that happen!"

"I'm sorry I was just trying to make it to where you wouldn't have to see her."

"I know but you need to think with your head a vampire is 20 times stronger than a human so if she was to try to hurt you it would happen because you wouldn't be able to protect yourself."

Before I can say anything there's a knock at the door.

"Coming!!", Jared says.

"Oh would you look at my handsome brother!!"

"Lucy I told you no why don't you ever listen?"

"Oh because I don't have to. Duh!"

"I think you should leave!"

"Nope now move."

She opens the door more and sees me but instead of rushing to kill me she stays still and looks at me intently. She then whispers, "she's your mate...?"
Jared rushes her into his reading room and locks the door and I'm left there standing like an idiot.

What does she mean I'm his mate??
