Cadence POV

I walked along the beach in a long white dress barefooted as I felt the chrisp white sand between my toes. The sun was at an angle as the picturesque blue skies kept following me in the distance. My hair flew away from my face as my eyes looked straight ahead.

So many things had changed in just a short time. I married the man I loved, but I also loved another. It broke my heart to see Jacob get out that car and never looked back. Not only was he broken on the inside and out but I was the cause.

He tried to show me in different ways how much he loved me by offering me a job, his kindness and his love. I stepped over him like a bump in the road and I only wished I could tell him just how much I love him but we can never be. It just wasn't in the cards for us. I needed to let go. It was a brief fling and I wish I could have both of them, but that would be selfish and unfair to the both of them.

I'm not a cheater. Saying yes to Evan was a hard decision. Of course I love him and I'm having his children, but somehow I could have been happy with Jacob. Why did life have to be so hard?

The water was now at my feet. The girls would be leaving soon as they had just got accepted to study in England for a year. They are so excited but a part of me doesn't want to let them go. Emily had decided to go with them, and watch over them but it should be my responsibility.

I looked out as the waves bouncing off the shoreline into the horizon. I was grateful for the life I had been given. Who would have thought I would marry a rich handsome man, have two babies growing inside of me and take care of my sisters? God had been good to me and I thanked him everyday.

Did I want to be an escort? No it was not a part of my original plan, but then again I would have never met the loves of my life. I wasn't a statistic and never wanted to be.

I felt strong arms wrap around my waist as I moved in to fit securely in his arms. He pressed his chin against my shoulder and kissed my cheek.

"It's early. Everything okay Mrs. McCain," he whispered in my ear.

"Yeah, just wanted to enjoy the sunrise, Mr. McCain."

"You should have woke me up. I would have watched it with you."

"So much has happened in the past few days. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it."

"Any regrets?"

"No, but I hate hurting people's feelings. Why did you fight Jacob?"

Evan eased back from me. I turned around to see the look on his face.

"It's not important."

"Yes it is. Why did you hurt him?"

"How do you even know?"

"Because I saw him. He was unconscious. I drove him to the doctor."

"You did what!" he shouted at me.

"You need to drop the bass in your voice. I am not your child. He called me to help him. His voice was raspy and I couldn't let anything happen to him."

"So you mean to tell me you went to him. Unfucking believable."

"Evan I am warning you. Why did you do it?"

"Because he fucking paraded you in front of me. He has pictures of you in his office. He knew that you and I were together and he professed his undying love for you. What do you expect Cad? By the way, I know he wasn't a job. You were with him just before I proposed to you, weren't you? When I didn't go to your awards banquet you two hooked up."
