Chapter Forty-six
I felt a hand clasp around mine. I turned my head to the side, to see it was Leon. Except he wasn't looking at me, he was looking at the safe house for the first time since he got here.
Rawer wanted to make sure Leon was back completely and that the Defesta wasn't putting on a facade. He also wanted to make sure Leon's health was up to its full potential. Even though everyone in this safe house had sworn to protect Leon and his kingdom, there was always room for traitors and Rawer wanted Leon to be fully healthy if Leon may have needed to fight.
"I am so sick of that room," Leon said, glancing over at the room he was being kept at for the past four days.
"It was for own good. Now, I have to do my daily round around the safe house. Ashley will show you around." Before either of us could say another word Rawer walked away.
"You haven't been here before?" I asked as we started walking towards the center of the safe house.
"This safe house was built before I took over. The invisible spell on it, also helps this house stay clean and up to date with technology. Every few years witches come here to repeat the spell that was put on this house so that the spell doesn't wear off."
"I never got to thank you. For saving my life and yours. I could repay you for that."
"Just stay with me and you'll repay me."
"I'm not going anywhere."
"Neither am I." Leon abruptly stopped and pulled me towards his waist. If I moved even the slightest bit forward, our chests would be touching.
"What are you doing?" Even though my voice was quiet, I knew that everyone could hear us.
"Am I not allowed to kiss my mate?" Without giving me a chance to reply, I felt his lips on mine. At first, they were gentle, almost making the kiss seem like a peck but then a sense urgency rushed through me and I felt Leon's hand that was around my waist- pulling me even closer towards him- if that was even possible.
Our kiss was becoming more heated. I ran my hands through Leon's hair and finally pulled away, gasping for air. Leon's were bright red, and I had no doubt that mine was the same. I shyly looked around to see everyone looking at us. I felt blood rush to my cheeks and I put my face in Leon's shirt hoping that would prevent them from seeing my blushing face.
"Come on. Let's continue with your tour." Leon said, sensing my shyness. With that, we continued on with our tour until we were back at the place where we started.
"Are you okay? Do you want to rest?" I asked abruptly, just remembering that Leon had just been relieved from the Defesta.
"I'm fine, trust me." He gave my hand a squeeze and let go. "I'm just going to grab a few files from inside, and then we'll meet a Rawer to discuss the plans of our next action."
For the next few hours, we both were in and out of meetings. Leon took me to each meeting, he wanted me to know how things were run here- even though at times I didn't what they were talking about.
Some of the Alphas used werewolf terms that I had never come across before and Leon would whisper the meaning in my ear. I appreciated that he tried sure I understood everything.
"The next plan of action was to take down Sarim. Rawer showed me the numbers of Sarim's army and it's much larger than I expected. We need to make sure everyone is prepared to fight- warrior or not. The fight doesn't always have to be on the battlefield, it can also happen within us. We need to make sure that each of us are as strong as we can be. We need to be prepared for surprise attacks and for the final attack. I want all the Alphas to give me their report with their answers by the end of the day and to make training sessions longer by one hour. You all are dismissed. Rawer stay behind."
With that all the Alphas were out of the meeting room, leaving only Leon, Rawer and I in the room.
"I want you to keep a close eye on all the Alphas. We don't know who we can trust nowadays."
"Of course. Is that all?" Rawer said, packing up his papers into his bag and standing up.
"Yes." Leon gave Rawer a nod and stood up.
"I need to show you something." He extended his hand to me and pulled me up from the chair.
I wondered about what Leon was going to show me. This was his first time in this place so I was certain it wasn't a place.
"I like to draw." I glanced at Leon's face questionably, wondering where he was going with this. "Whenever I get stressed I like to draw. It's a way for me to release my stress and sometimes it even allows me to forget about the chaotic world we are living in." He opened the door to his room, and let me in.
"When I was resting, I drew something- more like someone. I usually don't show people my drawings, but you are special. I want you to know how special you are- not only to me but to all these people in this place. I know many of them don't know you, but they know me and without you, I wouldn't be so happy and so hopeful. Thus the people also are hopeful."
"What did you draw?" I whispered to Leon.
Without another word, Leon removes the cloth from the canvas and I gasp in shock. It was a drawing of me by the elevator when Leon went down the stairs and I had just come out of the elevator.
"It's beautiful."
"You're beautiful." I looked at him for a second and then we both started laughing at his corny reply.
Leon pulled me onto his lap, and we both closed our eyes and kissed softly- cherishing this moment. We both knew that this was just a moment in time, where we could lose ourselves. We knew that I wouldn't last forever- somebody maybe this could be a normal thing but not now- not today.
"Leon!" There was a banging on the door, causing us to pull apart. "There was an attack!"
