Chapter Thirteen

"How does it feel to know that you were the cause of your parents' death," the dark voice asked me. I turned my head wildly, darkness surrounded me. I took small cautious steps, my body alert for a sudden sound.

"I did not kill my parents' you did," I shouted into the darkness. "Stop trying to blame others for your mistakes."

"You have become very brave Ashley," the dark voice commented, chuckling darkly. A shiver passes through my body. Goosebumps cover my body as I walk slowly in the darkness.

"Go away!" I spat out in disgust.

"No can do dear child," the dark voice said in a taunting voice.

"What do you want?"

"That is simple Ashley; I want you to suffer so much that you will want to kill yourself in the end."

"Why will I kill myself knowing that I am doing just what you wanted?" I asked with my eyebrow raised.

"You will want to die when I have finished with you," the dark voice whispered.

"Well it is too bad that you are so scared that you cannot even show your face," I replied back in a confident voice even though I was feeling quite the opposite.

"That is it!" the dark voice shouted loudly making the ground from the vibration. I stopped walking and clenched my hands into fists, ready to attack at any given moment. My eyes were wide in fear and small shivers were passing through my body.

"I am coming to get you, Ashley," the dark voice whispered behind me. I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand. I felt someone breathing on the back of my neck. I am too afraid to look behind me. I gulped loudly. My heart pounding hard against my chest, you would think that finally, my heart would just leap out of my chest.

"Boo!"

"Ahhh!" I screamed loudly.

"Ashley! Wake up, it is okay. Ashley calm down you are alright. It was just a nightmare. Ashley wake up," I heard a familiar voice say to me. I opened my eyes to a bright light. I blinked rapidly to clear my vision. I saw a concerned looking Leon sitting beside me. My chest heaved up and down as I took deep breaths to calm down my heart that was beating loudly.

"Are you okay?" Leon asked running his hands through his hair. I don't respond to him. My thoughts jumbled around like an unsolved puzzle. I sighed loudly and put my hands on my face. My loose hair pocked the back of my neck.

"I am fine," I said hoarsely after a few minutes.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"No," I said back sharply.

"Ashley, what is going on? First your parents then this," Leon said in a concerned voice, "this is something serious. You have got to tell someone or this situation will get even worse."

"Please stop with wisdom words or else get out of my room. You have no right to my business," I said removing my hands from my face and looking up at him.

"Ashley tell me."

"What part of 'you have no right to my business, do you not understand?" I asked annoyed.

"Your business is my business," Leon said quietly. I looked at him strangely.

"My business is mine, not yours! I do not share," I said, staring him angrily. Who did he think he was?

"I am trying to help you." Leon insisted to me. Why was Leon so concerned? Why was he acting as if he cared?

"Please just go, I want some time alone. I need to sort my things out. I think I just need some alone time."

"Of course, but call me if you need anything or need a shoulder to cry on," Leon said in a gentle voice. He stood up and walked to the door that was wide open. With one more glance at me, he closed the door.

I stared at the door for a while. My mind numb from everything that has happened in the past two days. Sobs took over my body as I remembered the picture of my dead picture. Tears ran down my cheeks as I let all my emotions out.

My heart clenches slightly knowing that I could have warned them, and then maybe they would not be dead. I slide down until I am under the blankets. I curled myself into a ball and cried myself to sleep.

"Ashley! Ashley!" I heard someone shout at me. I groaned in annoyance. I slowly got up from my bed, my hair sticking to my face that was sticky from all the crying. Who could this be? What did that person want?

I walked to the door and pulled the door open with a little more force than needed. I gasped in shock as I looked at the person in front of me.

"Ashley I am so sorry about your parents," Julie said to me pulling me into a hug. I do not return the hug as my mind is too numb to think.

"What are you doing here?" My mind wonders with questions. How is she here? What happened to her yesterday?

"What do you mean?" Julie asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"I was asking because you just took off yesterday at the café," I said averting my eyes to the floor.

"Oh, uh that was because I was not feeling well. I felt like I was going to puke so I rushed to my dorm. Anyways I brought you something." Julie pulled out a big box of chocolates.

"Thank you, you really did not need to do this," I said genuinely. I took the box from her hand peered at the chocolates.

"I also brought this," Julie said bringing out a set of movies, "I thought you would like to think about something else, but if you do not want to watch then it is fine."

Before I could answer I heard the rush of footsteps. I looked down the hallway to see the girl from earlier running around frantically.

"Have you see Leon?" she asked us, stopping and looking at the both of us.

"No. Why?" I asked curiously. What could be so important that she had to be running everywhere just to look for him?

"Leon is in danger."
