"You look beautiful," Mesut whispered taking Katrina's hand as they prepared to get married, he had never thought that this would be how they did it but it seemed like such a better alternative than what lay ahead tomorrow.
This way no one would be able to ruin their wedding by trying to put a stop to the proceedings and Mesut was sure that his father was going to be the main problem there.
Katrina blushed a little and looked down at the ground, she felt huge in the cream lace maxi dress that she was wearing but at least this way no one would notice that her wedding dress was missing.
Mesut would have to wait until tomorrow to see the dress that she had chosen for their wedding but right now the dress that she was wearing would do.
"Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to celebrate one of life's greatest moments to give recognition to the worth and beauty of love and to say our best wishes to the words which shall unite Mesut and Katrina in marriage," the priest that Mesut had hired began.
It was a quiet little ceremony with witnesses and Katrina had a feeling that she would remember this wedding much more than the wedding that was planned for the next day.
"Should there be anyone who has cause why this couple should not be united in marriage; speak now or forever hold your peace?" the priest continued however there was no doubt that no one would object since there was no one here that could speak against the union.
Mesut offered Katrina a small smile and he didn't care what happened next for them, he was just going to be happy that he got to call her his wife.
"Life is given to each of us as individuals, and yet we must learn to live together. Love is given to us by our family or our friends, we learn to love by being loved, learning to love, and living together is one of the greatest challenges of life and is the shared goal of married life..." the priest preached with a smile as he continued to talk.
Mesut gave Katrina's hand a small squeeze, he couldn't bring himself to look away from her and he doubted that there was anything that would change the way that he felt about her.
They had come so far since they had met and Mesut was just relieved that they had made it this far; soon they would have a daughter to care for and he couldn't wait to become a father.
"Would you please face each other and join hands..." the priest asked them even though the couple had already done that, he smiled preparing for the main part of the ceremony that he had to conduct.
The sun set over the couple as they prepared to be married and Katrina was relieved that they were doing this now; she couldn't imagine how she was going to be tomorrow in front of everyone.
"Mesut, do you take Katrina to be your wife?" the priest asked turning his attention to Mesut, it had been a surprise when he had been asked to do a last-minute wedding and he had very nearly said no.
Mesut took a deep breath, he couldn't believe that this was actually happening and he had never thought that his wedding day would be so peaceful; he was relieved that they had done it this way first.
"Do you promise to love, honour, cherish and protect her, forsaking all others, and holding only to her forevermore?" the priest continued and Mesut had to hold back a snort, he hadn't looked at another woman since they had gotten together.
The thought of being with another hadn't crossed his mind since his timer had run down, he still couldn't believe that he had gotten so lucky when it came to his own soul-mate.
"I do," Mesut said smiling at Katrina, she was everything that he had ever wanted and he didn't care about the problems that they had in the future; he was just focusing on the fact that they were working now.
They had come so far and Mesut could only hope that they were going to be okay, they had everything going for them and they were content in London right now.
"Katrina, do you take Mesut to be your husband? Do you promise to love, honour, cherish and protect him, forsaking all others, and holding only to him forevermore?" the priest asked turning to Katrina, the ceremony seemed to be going well for them.
The small chapel where they were getting married was quiet and it felt nice to be able to do this without worrying about what Katrina's entire family were doing; she felt like she could breathe.
"I do," Katrina said smiling back at Mesut, she had never thought that they were going to make it here and she wanted to enjoy herself while she married Mesut.
The couple grinned at one another as they thought about the fact that this was happening to them; it had never crossed their minds that this could happen to them after everything they had been through.
"I, Mesut, take thee, Katrina, to be my wife. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, and I promise my love to you forevermore." Mesut recited back his vows, he couldn't bring himself to look away from Katrina; his fingers brushed over the back of her hand as he spoke.
The priest nodded his head before turning to Katrina so she could say her vows, the wedding was nearly done and he was sure they would be able to have the paperwork sorted out soon.
"I, Katrina, take thee, Mesut, to be my husband. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, and I promise my love to you forevermore." Katrina said grinning, she couldn't believe that this were doing this and she just hoped that her parents wouldn't find out about this.
There was no way that Maria or Kostas would react well to the idea that she had eloped with Mesut the day before her wedding; Katrina could only imagine what they would say and how guilty they would make her feel.
"Our hearts are filled with great happiness on Mesut and Katrina's wedding day, as they come before you pledging their hearts and lives to one another..." the priest said after the couple had exchanged their rings and he folded his hands in front of him as he prepared to close the ceremony.
It had been a long day and no one was sure what the next day would hold when they prepared for the wedding that had been planned by their families.
Katrina could only hope that her family weren't going to be completely crazy, she was dreading to think just what they had planned for the actual wedding.
"Mesut and Katrina, so much as the two of you have agreed to live together in Matrimony, have promised your love each other, I now declare you as husband and wife..." the priest concluded and Mesut couldn't wait for the sentence that came next.
There was so much that would happen tomorrow and now they didn't have to worry about anyone doing something that might mean that they couldn't get married.
"Congratulations, you may kiss your bride," The priest finished allowing the couple to share their first kiss as a married couple; he smiled watching them before taking a step away from them to give them a moment.
Mesut couldn't keep the smile from his face as he held Katrina close to him, he was so happy that she was now his wife and he doubted the idea would sink in anytime soon.
Katrina was now officially Mrs Katrina Özil and that was all that mattered to Mesut now; he wasn't going to let anything happen to his wife or daughter.
