I cried. I cried for hours until my eyes burned and my lungs felt like they were going to collapse.
Damn Enzo to hell. I was hurting because of him and I wanted him to hurt the same way.
Carlisle sat with me the whole time, holding me in his arms on the floor. I felt like I owed him my life. I didn't know anyone else who would sit in silence on the floor, comforting a crying person for hours.
He brushed my final tears away. I smiled softly at him and he reciprocated. I leaned my head on his chest. "Thank you," I whispered.
"For what?" He questioned.
"For staying with me."
He kissed the top of my head. He then lifted me up gently and carried me to the bed where he laid me down on it. "Stay here. I'll clean up the glass."
I nodded, tangling myself into the comforting sheets. Carlisle was a good man but I didn't know much about him. I only knew he was married, lavishly wealthy, and quite mysterious. I didn't even know what business he worked in.
"Carlisle, what do you do for a living?" I asked.
He chuckled. "You're not ready for that just yet."
Whatever the hell that meant. I rolled my eyes and leaned back onto the bed, looking out the window into the moonlight-clad streets and buildings.
"Carlisle for Christ sake leave the glass and come here." I laughed as I rolled over again to look at him.
He glared at me playfully as he finished picking up the last shards and discarded them into the bin. "Demanding and impatient." He lifted an eyebrow as he spoke, humor clear on his tone.
I scoffed and held a hand to my heart in mock hurt. "Demanding?!" I exclaimed. "Impatient?! How ever so preposterous, dear Carlisle. I don't think I can ever recover from such malice."
I then pretended to faint on the bed, laying on the drama. I heard him laugh, throwing his head back. He came over to the bed and straddled me. I refused to give up my act, as I still pretended to be unconscious.
"Stell, you're going to have to open your eyes at some point."
I kept them closed, I fought a smile that was begging to show on my lips.
"Alright well . . . I guess I'll just have to leave sleeping beauty alone now."
Carlisle got up from the bed and began walking away but I leaped up, swiftly grabbing his arm, holding him from leaving the room. I pulled him to me and kissed his lips feverishly.
"Ah, so I've awoken sleeping beauty now," Carlisle said, laughing.
I grinned and pulled him to the bed where we sat next to each other, I leaned my head on his shoulder. I was happy.

After rendering me safe and stable, Carlisle left later that day. I appreciated that he stayed with me, making sure I wasn't going to do anything to hurt myself.
The way Enzo looked at me, what he said about me, and how he hit me, completely broke my heart. I thought Enzo loved me, I doted on that man and gave him everything I had and he thought I was just a slut.
