You lied

Lucas Pov.

School starts back again today and i havent seen or heard from anybody since new years. I went over to Farkle's the other day and they said he wasnt home. Maya texts me couples times but i never got to see her. She was acting weird and i dont know why, i know its not weird to say i love you to someone but the way she said it was like she'll never see me again. Im worried about her but everyone is telling me she's fine or to talk to her.

I hurry to the subway hoping to see her, but i dont. I text her and shes says she slept in and is running late.

Maya Pov

I lied to Lucas, i didnt sleep in. I was at Max's last night i guess i fell asleep so i had to run and get clothes. Ive been couch jumping for a few days now, i sneak into my apartment when Mark leaves to grab some stuff. Its been working so far, i had a close call the another night when Lucas texted me and Mark was home.

I hate lying to him but its for his safety, Mark already threatened the Matthews, Shawn, my mom, and Max. Max hids me when Mark goes off searching and he has been doing that since we met.

"Hey M you ready to go?" Maya says coming into his room.

I zip my bag and throw it over my shoulders. "Yea...lets go."

The whole ride to school Max was lecturing me about telling lucas and how he can handle himself. I of course fought back because i know how this will end.

He parked the car at school,"Max i already put alot of people i care about in danger so just stop!" and with that i opened the door and walked towards the front doors.

I walked really fast and i was almost to my locker when Max caught up with me.

"You have to tell him!" Max said pulling me aside.

"I cant and you know that...its going to kill him. Can we stop talking about Lucas for now? I have to see him later and i dont wanna deal with this." i begged Max

He signed, "okay fine but not telling him is worst. You now i got you right?"

"Yea...and thanks for lastnight, i really needed to take my mind off of things. Especially taking my mind off of Lucas."

"Well if you listened to me you wouldnt be in this situation. Just tell him.."

"Ok...i'll do it later. Im going to break his heart but...he needs to know."

"Are you going to break up with him?" Max asks cautiously.

"Like i said before i dont wanna think about it. Now I'll see you later, maybe I'll come over tonight if Riley doesnt force me to me to stay at her place."

*bell rings*

"Okay see you later M!" Max said hugging Maya.

"Bye..." Maya walked over to the lockers not noticing someone was watching.

I was on my way to my locker when i heard Maya's voice and sure enough it was her. She was with Max, they looked like they were having a intense conversation.
