Maya Pov

Everyone keeps pressuring me to tell Lucas and i honestly dont want to. I know he'll be understanding and want to protect me but if Mark ever found out about him...i couldn't live with myself if something happened to Lucas.

But then again the only one hurting him right now is me and im hurting myself too by lying. Ughh maybe i deserve this. The beating and abuse and Lucas hating me.

"Maya stop it!" Sarah blurted out.

I snapped out of my thoughts, i forgot i was at Sarah's. "W-what? Oh sorry."

"Stop self sabotaging yourself." how did she know that? "Maya i know the look remember. Listen... telling Cowboy about this will be a relief not a burden."

"I feel like im going to keep hurting him."

"Maybe you will...but what I've learned from watching you and him, is that he is exactly what you need. You love him and i know that cause I've never seen someone care so much about a another human being like you do. Even if your Step father broke something in you..he didnt take that away from you. He didnt take the Hart out of Maya Hart."

I smiled, "thank you...i really needed that. You of all people get this more then anyone. I hope you and Max have a beautiful relationship."

"We have something...its a working progress considering everything but he's great."

"Im sorry i should've noticed you had feelings for him."

"Dont be! I was figuring them out and after seeing you confess your feelings for Lucas, i realized i had real feelings for Max. Which now i get why i hated you two together-"

"Hey!" we laughed.

"Im serious...if it wasnt for you Maya, alot of this wouldnt be possible."

"Do you think they will come after you again?" i ask cautiously.

"Well i hope not...Cj and I have been out for a while. Im old enough to have a place and im out of that house. I glad that you found Riley when you did...cause you could've been us. Yea we're decent people but we've done somethings and you never should go through that."

"You guys are a real family?"

"Cj is my sister and Ben is my brother. Max...well he's mine. So yea we've a family..not by blood but a family. Your apart of that now and all of your friends. We love you M, remember that."

I nod, "Yea..thank you..again. So i should get going." i say getting up, "im gonna go get my cowboy back!"

She smiled at me and i left her apartment.

Zay do you know where Lucas is?

Football practice just finished so unless you can catch up to him. He's in the music department.

Once i read Zay's text i race to the subway. Music department? I know exactly what to do.
