She sat down in front of the desk and took a deep breath. Then she opened the diary.

Dear Diary
I did not feel so good today. It felt like someone was watching me the whole time. As if someone hung after me and refused to take his eyes of me. It was so uncomfortable. But I was sitting at home alone all day today. My brothers and father were in the town-hall and had a meeting with the City Council. The housekeeper was downstairs the whole time. I had already checked that. A strange thing happened when I was out on the balcony for about an hour ago. It was a sort of shadow that stood out in the garden but when I would look at it, it was gone. I don’t know what to do... No one is going to believe me. They will think that I'm crazy.
She turned to the next page.

Dear Diary
The same thing happened today. I felt as if someone was watching me. I don’t know what to do. I can hardly sleep because I'm so worried. Help me!
Brooke closed the book with a bang. It must have been this that Louis had talked about. That he had watched her for months. She flipped to the last recorded day. Nineteenth July. She hadn’t written in almost a week. She hadn’t been able to bring herself to write. It would look so crazy out written down. Everything that happened to her. She heard voices downstairs and recognized her fathers voice. She stood up from her seat and opened her door. She tiptoed down the stairs in bare feet. She peered into his father's office. He sat with his back to her and smoked a pipe. She knew that beacuse she saw smoke that billowed up from his head.
"Father," Brooke said loud and clear. Her voice cut through the silence. He turned quickly in the armchair and stood up. He stood silent for a moment and just looked at her.
Then Brooke rushed forward and hugged him.
"Sorry! I wanted to be alone, I didn’t know what to do. I was so scared because of what happened with Hamilton! "She sobbed into his shoulder. He stroked his rough hand over her matted hair and comforted her.
Her father was silent for a long while. Then he backed away.
"What is it?" Brooke asked and grabbed his arm. He looked sadly at her.
"Caroline Bradshaw has been murdered."
Brooke gaped wide. How could Louis have done that? Again!?
"Just as Hamilton. But here there was no note. I will go there at once. I just found out from a friend of Caroline who ran to the town-hall and cried."
Brooke hid her face in her hands. The father stretched and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Can I go with you?" Brooke asked uncertain and looked up at him. He looked uncomfortable, and shooke his head.
“But father, please? You know i can take it. I’m a big girl now.” She said and grabbed his hands.
He nodded slowly.
She didn’t know if she would be able to handle the blood and the body lying there, but she had to. She nodded back. They rode out to Caroline's house who lived just outside the city. It was a beautiful place. She had a big farm and a nice little flowerbed infront of her house.
They jumped off the horses and tied them to a neighboring tree. Then they stepped into the house. Caroline lay on the kitchen floor in a hunched position. As if she was still alive when Louis had left her. And then died of exsanguination. It had spilled blood around her and down the floor and dried. It smelled wonderful. Even if it would have smelled terrible. Caroline's face was blank. No emotions what so ever. No expression of fear. Brooke leaned over her and touched her hair. It was stuck together with blood. Her father gasped.
“Brooke, don’t go so near her.”
“Sorry,” she whispered and leaned back a little.
"We have to find the sick bastard who’s done this!" He roared. Brooke felt guilty because she knew who the murderer was. Louis.
She turned her face to Caroline again and lit hr gaze wander doew to her neck. There was so much blood... She couldn’t even think clear, it was like her head had been stuffed with cotton.
Brooke couldn’t resist the blood on Caroline's neck and chest and leaned closer. She licked with her tongue over her neck. She had never tasted anything that made her so satisfied before. She could feel the heat spread through her body and down to her fingertops. Something clicked in her brain and she completley shut off. She sank her teeth into her neck and sucked up the little blood that was left. Then she sat up and turned her face to her father. Blood dripped from her chin. The father screamed and staggered backwards. Guilt washed over her.
"It was you!" He bellowed with fear in his eyes.
"No father! It was L...” She trailed off, not wanting to give away his
name even though he didn’t desvere her blessing. “I didn’t... It wasn’t me, I swear!" Brooke begged and crawled after him.
"Do not come any closer to me your monster!" He groped with his hand along the wall, hoping to find a rifle with eyes fixed on Brooke. His hand struck something hard and he grabbed it. He threw a plate towards her and it shattered against her shoulder. She fell to the floor.
"May you burn in hell," he breathed, and ran out of the house. Brooke ran after him. She was much faster than him and caught up with him. She grabbed his arm in an iron grip.
He tried to break free but Brooke’s new powers meant that she was much stronger than fifteen men together. Eventually he gave up and handed over to death.
“I swear on my mother's grave that I did not kill those people! You know me. I'm just your little daughter. I have not chosen this. A man attacked me in the old cemetery in the woods and turned me into a vampire. You can not leave me now when I need you the most! "She threw herself sobbing into his arms. He wept with. But he was not hugging her back. He just stood there and cried. She cried even harder and was shaking like a maniac. Then a hand trembled up over her back and slowly rubbed her back. He comforted her. But she knew that he didn’t want anything more than to just get away from her.
"Please, you must not reveal me! I will never kill anyone. It is against my human nature. Though I'm not human anymore does not mean I have to be a monster. "
He looked at her with sad eyes and then nodded.
"I-I...” He said, and glanced toward the house.
“Father please, I’m your daughter. Your daughter.”
“I know, but...”
“Father, listen to me. I would never hurt anyone.”
She stared at him with a dead seriuos look and he looked back at her.
“I hope so, Brooke. For your own good.”
She couldnt help but smile a little. But he did not smile back. He just looked like something had died inside of him.
