I winced in pain, my stomach curling. Asu held my hand as the school nurse's substitute, Muja Kina, approached me with a first aid kit. I had slit my calf on the thick pavement while racing Asu to the front of the school.
"Let's see... my, that's a big cut. I'll just find the, oops!"
The majority of supplies flew everywhere, she reached for the rubbing alcohol. The cut was somewhat cleaned and less bloody, so Asu and Muja helped me into the nurse's office. By the time we got there, the bleeding started again and the cloth wrap was a dark red. She sat me on a doctor's table, propping my leg up on it as well. Asu kissed me on the cheek and left to meet her mum outside the school.
"I'm going to get you another bandage."
She looked through her medical cabinet, a roll of gauze falling out and travelling across the floor. Despite the oozing blood, I was actually happy to be here. Muja seemed very sweet, even with her clumsiness. She only came to the school sometimes to replace the actual nurse, but I always liked to see her because she was incredibly attractive physically and in personality. She brought over a large cloth and wrapped it around my leg after dabbing some water in the wound.
"Do you feel well?"
She seemed rather concerned for me, I shook my head yes with a smile. She closed her eyes happily and cupped her hands over her chest.
"I'm glad to do my job if it means you'll be happy!"
She blushed. I couldn't help but feel that she was trying to flirt with me a little, even with my girlfriend and her overall sweet attitude. I decided that I'd be truthful and straightforward.
"Kina-san... you're beautiful. I admit, I've had a crush on you since the day I first got food poisoning."
That may not have been the most romantic thing to say, but it was straightforward and honest. She made a little noise, then smiled slowly. I leaped down from the table with my good leg and balanced on the edge, the other leg behind me and against the table. She tripped on the roll of gauze, falling straight onto the floor and letting out a helpless whine. The gauze rolled under a bed and she sat up and sigh.
"I just don't think that's a good idea. What about your girlfriend, and my job?"
I sighed, wishing things could just be easier. Suddenly, I looked her in the eyes and smiled.
"No one has to find out, if you want."
She looked up curiously, then stood up and smiled. I called home to say I'd be staying after school very late, making up a reasonable excuse. Then I hung up and stared into Muja's rosy eyes mischievously. My hands slipped under her arms by her chest, one of which was around my neck, her other hand in my hair. My hands lowered to her hips and we began to lip lock.
I woke up the next morning bruised down my neck. Asu and I were chatting when I scratched my neck, re-adjusting my coat and revealing the secret. She slapped me, I deserved it. Her friends gave me the cold shoulder, I didn't care. Muja and I agreed that it was best to go our separate ways and avoid letting things get out of hand. I was left with myself, and I didn't mind. I decided it was best to prepare myself for upcoming misfortune, seeing my luck with girls. For the rise, though, I could live with the fall.
