Recording day, I wrote my own song for the occasion... surprise!

It was a last minute thing so I'd have to go over it with the crew, I had all my ideas set up and planned... hope they accept it. It would be awkward seeing Brendon there after what happened on New Years. But it's still my job to make music, hope nothing interferes.

I heard a car door close behind me and I turned around.. oh. "Hey Brendon!" I waved, trying to stay on good terms. He nodded and walked faster, looking at the ground. I couldn't help but be disenchanted. I love him, but how can he be so cold? We're still friends and co-workers. I sighed and and continued to the studio.

I hit the buzzer and the door to the studio unlocked. I went to the third floor and quietly stepped off, fixing my hair in the process. I knocked on Pete's door and a moment later it swung open, a big smile on Pete's face.

"Excited?" Pete asked, sitting down in one of the many red leather chairs.

"I guess. Oh, I have something and I hope it's not too last minute.. I'm sorry." I slid the crumpled piece of paper out of my pocket and shamefully handed it to Pete, "It got a little dinged up." Pete smiled and unraveled the paper, scanning it quickly, "This is perfect, thank you." He quietly handed the paper to one of the sound managers.

"Oh, okay, I thought it would be impossible to do since it was so last minute.. thank you." I sat down in the chair next to him. I looked over and I saw Brendon playing his phone in the corner, totally oblivious to what was happening.

"Is he okay?" Pete whispered, "he's been acting weird."

"..I.. I don't know." I shrugged and bit my lip, chewing on some of the dead skin. "A lot has been going on."

"Shit, I owe Patrick ten bucks."

"What?"

"He said you guys wouldn't last. I said you would, ugh, why do I always lose?"

"N-No.. I, uh... I don't know what's going on but I'm hanging in there for a chance we might get back together."

"Oh, well I hope you do. You two make a nice couple, you know?"

"Yeah, my heart would break if... never mind." My voice trailed off.

"Tell me! You can't leave me on a cliffhanger."

"If.. if he started dating someone else. He said the reason he wanted a break was because he was under stress, and if that was only an excuse because I was lacking something that another person has..."

"I don't think that would happen, and if it does you can come into the studio anytime and talk."

"Thanks Pete."

One of the sound directors called me over, "We're ready to record.. get in there."

The songs went by faster than I thought they would, an hour passed and now it was time for the new song I had added on.

"You got this..." I mumbled.

"Whether near or far... I am always yours. Any change in time, we are young again. Lay us down, we're in love. Lay us down, we're in love. Ahhhh.. ahhh... ahh... ahhhh... In this coming years, many things will change. But the way I feel will remain the same. Lay us down, we're in love. Lay us down, we're in love. Ahhh.. ahhh.. ahhhh.. ahhh."

"(Y/N) why are you crying?" I hadn't even realized. "Oh.. I.. nothing." Brendon looked up at me tears dripping from my cheeks. "I'm fine."

I took the headphones off and hung them on the wall.

Pete made a dissatisfied face and I exited the office, sitting down in the hallway. I had trouble breathing and I tried to cry as quietly as I could. Pete peeked out of the door, "You can leave if you want, just come back another day."

"Thanks.." with that I got up and went back to my car, not even waiting to go back home.

B: You okay?

(Y/N): Yeah. I'm good, thanks.

B: I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

(Y/N): Seriously, I'm fine.

B: 😶
