Chapter 8
We all jumped into the car and Michael started driving. I was stuck with the two boys in the backseat. We were smooth driving until we had an old lady cross in front of us. I know it doesn’t sound that bad, but when she transforms into Kelli’s aunt and her pet turns out to be a lion hybrid, you know it’s a problem. The lion had the tail of a serpent and a middle section of a goat. I can say we didn’t scream, but that will be a total lie. We all screamed, especially James. He sounded like a girl on California Screamin’.
“We have to save Ariel!"
“But what about the Chimera?”
“Just bang the stupid cat then.”
We drove straight toward them. It wasn’t the best plan, but it was pretty effective. Let’s just say that if they were here, a lot of kids have been scarred for life. We drove for five minutes, when we stopped at an alleyway.
“We can’t just drive thru it?” I asked.
“No, it’s too skinny the alley.”
“Alright.”
I got paired up with Kai and James got paired up with Michael.
“Ok, James. Once you go to the end of the maze, you break into another car.”
“Ugh…………fine.”
“Ok, split up!”
Me and Kai went into the right way and I just followed him. He peeked behind the corner and saw a huge lion with a glittering pelt came running toward him.
“Go that way.” He whispered.
We started running away until we couldn’t hear anything. Kai put his finger over his mouth to tell me to be quiet. Everything was quiet until, the lion came bursting thru the wall, almost decapitating Kai.
“Olivia, come on!”
“RAWRRRRR!”
We jumped over the broken wall and ran around. We were looking behind us when we crashed into James.
“What the hell was that for?” James grumbled.
“There is a lion following us.” Kai whispered
“What?”
Just then, the lion burst thru another wall, trapping us inside.
“We’re trapped!” James yelled.
Michael tried to burn it with fire, but it sunk into his fur. James started firing arrows, but it bounced off. Kai tried throwing chunks of the wall at the lion and that gave me an idea. I grabbed a chunk of the wall and waited for it to roar again.
“RAWRRRRR!”
Before he closed his mouth, I threw the chunk into his mouth, choking him. Then, I jumped onto his back, keeping his mouth open. Michael found this as an opening and started shooting fire balls in his mouth. Finally, the lion transformed into dust, leaving behind his golden pelt.
“Michael, you go and take it.” I told him.
“No, you take it.”
“Come on, Michael, take it.”
“Fine.”
Michael picked it up and wrapped himself around it.
“James can you-”
“Got it.”
James had a Jaguar. It took another hour, but we finally made it.
“We’re here.”
We got out and searched the area. We were searching until I heard a bull behind me.
“Minotaur!”
Kai tackled me to the side while Michael and James sidestepped.
“I really am not in the mood to be fighting anymore monsters.”
Kai stepped in front of us and said, “Good, cause I am. Go, I can hold him off.”
Michael and James ran to the building to figure out how to open the door. I ran next to them, but someone put a bag over my head and I passed out.
