Chapter One

CHAPTER 1

RAVEN’S POV.

I felt free, running through the trees with abandonment. I watched as the trees and forest life zoomed pass me as I ran until my heart was content. I finally stopped when I reached the waterfall, slowly moving to the water and taking a drink. I saw my reflection on the surface, my wolf was raven black with honey brown eyes. After pulling my face away from the water I stretched and laid down, putting my head on my outstretched front legs, closing my eyes. All of a sudden I heard a twig snapping making my eyes fly open and stand up. Slowly a girl walked out from the trees with her head down which indicated that she didn’t know I was there. I quickly turn and ran back into the trees but I didn’t get far before I heard a sobbing noise, my wolf started howling and screaming ‘MATE’ at me. I slowly turned around only to come face to face with the most gut wrenching vision I have ever seen. There laying were I previously was is the girl curled up in a ball crying her eyes out. Without thinking I howled out at the sight which caused me pain. All of a sudden she stopped crying and stood up as quickly as she could before running in the opposite direction of me. ‘I am so stupid’, I thought. I put my head down and sulked all the way home.

After changing into black jeans and pierce the veil t-shirt I walked into the pack house.

“Raven, where have you been?” asked a voice from behind me. I turned around to find my mother standing there.

“Just went for a run mom.” I said as I glanced at her. I then walked into the kitchen to grab a drink of water, my mom following behind. I stood there contemplating on how I was going to see my mate again when my thoughts were interrupted.

“Sweetie, are you alright?” my mom asked as she finished cooking dinner.

“Yeah I’m good I think I’m just tired” I replied as I put the glass in the sink and started setting the table.

“Maybe you should go to bed after dinner is done then, after all school starts tomorrow.” She said after she called dad for dinner. We all sat down and started eating.

“What’s wrong baby girl?” My dad asked. As far as I can remember he always called me ‘baby girl’ unless I was in trouble then it was ‘Raven’.

“Nothing dad, just planning on going to bed after dinner.” I answered in between taking a bite of food.

“Alright then.” He said, then we all finished our dinner in silence. After dinner I said goodnight and went to my room. I lay there thinking about how even though my mate was crying when I first saw her, I still think she is beautiful.
