It's been two days since the break began and Jihye crossed another date on the calendar. She unfolded the letter which she found in her apartment and stared at the date with a soft sigh as she folded it again. Her phone let out a notification alert and she looked at the lock screen, seeing missed calls and messages from Jimin.
But not from him.
Time did not let her worry about that problem and her mind had no other space to let it happen. Another notification came in and she unlocked it as soon as she noticed that it was from Gina. Her eyes moved as she read the message over and over again.
'I can only lend you a quarter of the amount. I'll try to get more help'
Her fingers quickly typed her reply and sent it as soon as she was done.
She walked over to the drawers and opened them to find something expensive to pawn, but there was nothing but something caught her eye. She prayed for a miracle.
"Can I meet you at the cafe downstairs of the apartment", she hung up and grabbed a coat as she left.
As soon as she reached the cafe, she took a seat and heard thunders before rain began to pour. Her phone vibrated and she unlocked it. 'I'll be a few minutes late. Get me a latte =)'
Tapping on the home button, she accidentally opened the unread messages from Jimin. Knowing Jimin would be worried for her, she scrolled to the top to view the new messages and bit her lips as she read them.
'Are you fine on your own? I dropped my phone on the way, hyung lent me his phone for a while'
'Jihye~ Why aren't you reading my messages?!'
'Are you busy?'
'Are you sick?!'
'Jihye-ah, pick up your phone'
'If I find out that you're ignoring my messages and do not call me. I will punish you'
'I Love You - Jungkook'
A tear escaped her eyes and just before she could type, a chair across her moved and she quickly wiped the excess tear that welled up before looking at Hyeri staring back at her as she sat down.
"Hi, when did you get here?", Jihye smiled widely at her best friend.
"Just a while ago", Hyeri replied short and looked at Jihye's phone. "What's on your phone that made you cry", she teased as she tried to reach for it, only to have Jihye lock it immediately and push it in her jacket pocket.
Hyeri rolled her eyes and asked if her drink was on the way, Jihye gave a short nod and looked at her for a few seconds. "What? Do you miss me that much after spending so much time with your babies", she grinned.
Shaking her head, she tried to form her request on how to ask and what to ask. 'Can you help me? or I need your help?'
"Um...", Jihye pulled the hem of her sweater as she tried to find a way to start the topic.
Hyeri stared at her fidgeting by her seat and frowned, "are you alright?"
Looking up at her best friend one more time, she gulped and her lips parted; as her courage gathered. "I need your help"
It was pin drop silence in the cafe, as if on cue; the music stopped as soon as Jihye let the question out of her mouth.
"What? Did your mom put your name on the will to pay all her debts from gambling?", she whispered sarcastically in a straight face. Frozen at what she just heard, she prayed that it was her mind playing games.
